But to buy into that fully, so much that just because he was born into a family with a Muslim father.... is ignorant.

I know 9/11 sucked. Hell, I went to War because of it and spent a good 2 years floating around various deserts because of it. And I know a group of Muslims were responsible. But to blame the religion because of that, it's silly.

Makes us no better than the terrorists. The groups may hate us for the way we do things, and blame all Americans. We have to be better than that, realize that a few ********* do not paint the entire group as Evil.

You aren't listening DA. He knows he is being ignorant.. He just doesn't care.

I have a father who is a little racist. And it really pisses me off when he makes racist remarks. As he's gotten older, it has gotten more prevalent. As I got older, I realized it was wrong and have tried very hard to not be that way.

But in the case of Muslims, I can't help it. Muslims killed 3000 innocent civilians. The middle east seems to be a primitive, savage land where they've been fighting each other for thousands of years, well before our current idiot leader GW got us heavily entrenched.

So maybe it's not that I don't care, it's more that I know I am being biased against this particular group but I don't plan on changing that viewpoint anytime soon. And I do care, about the future of this country, which is why I will not be voting Obama. I wish Romney had made the ticket. I don't care if he's Mormon, we share many (but not all) of the same beliefs. Obama doesn't, and his background makes me wonder what he has in plan for the future of this country.

I was talking to my neighbor (a muslim who drops his kid off at the same bus stop I drop mine off at) and he said something which I found very interesting.

He talked about how it wasn't that long ago that the Persian empire looked at us the same way you just mentioned that you look at them "a primitive, savage land where they've been fighting each other for thousands of years". He said what they are experiencing now in that part of the world is comparable to what the Christian world experienced during the dark ages. Basically power has passed into the hands of very few people and they keep the masses poor and ignorant.

I hadn't thought of it that way before.

Getting tired of your f'n american politics threads....Is there a way, this , at least, dont appear in the main page....Why dont you guys just go find a political forum to talk about it.Those threads looks like f'n spam now.One gets lock another one immediately appears.

I agree, I wish we never made the mistake of getting directly involved in the middle east. At this point, I'm all about isolationism. This war is stupid and makes no sense and doesn't appear to have any end in sight. What are we fighting over there for again? Sadam is captured/executed. Osama is never going to be handed over. What's left? We're in an un-winnable situation. If we retreat, and innocent civilians are killed by disgruntled terrorist groups that no longer have US Marines to worry about, the US will be criticized for pulling out. We're trying to avoid a situation like that occurred in Vietnam when the US left where innocent South Vietnamese civilians were executed for being on the wrong side. If we stay, more people will die.

And now it looks like the US may be getting involved in Georgia/Russia. I hate that the US thinks that they must intervene and come to the rescue of distressed countries everywhere. No wonder the world's view of the US is turning sour. We feel compelled to stick our nose in everything, even when/where it isn't wanted.

I really hate to sound mean but if we left and that happened its not our problem thats theres if they cant find a way to fix it there self then they deserve to have it they need to stop relying on everybody else to fix there problem and fix them by there self

But, we went in there, destroyed their infrastructure, took out the only semblance of government. To just leave them to fend for themselves is pretty irresponsible and heartless. At the same time, continuing to invest in this place while they acrew an $80,000,000,000 (that's 80 billion dollars) seems to be just silly. Like I said, NO WIN. Obama won't fix it. Neither will McCain. Thanks Bush, you suck.

Yes Bush sucks really really badly but when it come to the upcoming president election i would rather have a war hero like McCain in office the the no experienced muslim obama

Obama = Muslim !?

i thought he was African American.

how many of you actually work/live around muslim's?

I used to do home care nursing in Dearborn MI. A veritable mecca for Muslims. The few I cared for were very kind and hospitable with me. I've been to a muslim funeral, and wedding. I grew up around middle easterners and prior to 9/11, never saw the muslim faith in a bad light. It's very sad to see things have changed.

I realize I'm being completely ignorant and biggoted, but I really don't care. I do not want anyone associated with the Muslim faith running our country. and sorry, but "Barrack Hussein Obama" sounds pretty Muslim to me.

If you had asked me before 9/11/2001, I wouldn't have had such a strong opinion. But ever since then, I just can't forget what a group of animals did to my country in the name of the Muslim religion. And for there to be little to no denouncing that act of war by the rest of the world's Muslims leads me to conclude that they didn't have a problem with it.

I'm pretty sure that I will feel the same way in another 10 or 20 years. I know it's prejudiced, and this was probably just a small group of extremists that gave the enitre religion a bad global view, but I can't get past it. I've heard very few positive things about the Muslim faith in my extremely limited exposure.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LOCK THIS THREAD! Religion and politics ALWAYS lead to argument, and i dont think a collectors forum is the place for this.
