I was reading through this thread concerning complains from people regarding the leaning to the right (windward side). To me the leaning makes sense from two standpoints: 1) with the weight of the coak on the right side, if he was standing straight up the statue would tip over. 1) when its windy, one tends to lean towards the wind, as if to fight its effects (even thought Obi-Wan as a Jedi, he can't fight nature--nor would he want to:rotfl)

The Ewan is a great sculpt, but only the proper Kenobi will be displayed - and that will forever be Guinness for me.

I keep trying to use the Ewan head. It's a stunning sculpt, but that Alec head just does a lot more for me.

totally agree with all of you.

I was concerned about the lean in pics but it's a total non-issue in hand. I also though I'd like the Guiness head better but Ewan is gorgeous and feels more right on the statue (not just from a story perspective.)

There is a brand new Star Wars book coming out at the end of the month called Kenobi and it takes place after Ep. III. Just looking at the cover and the general plot summary just reminds me of this piece. I think I'm going to have to pick up this piece to go along with the book.

Ya know, I never thought about getting my Star Wars fix through the EU books. Can anyone suggest the best ones to read. I did read the first Timothy Zahn book years ago but it's been so long I can't remember it and don't know if I feel like reading it again so I can read the others.

I remember liking it because of all the references to the OT and building off that. I remember thinking it took Luke too long to realize that the Jedi master was messing with the Dark Side. But that's it.

Anyone have any other favs. that they would suggest.

Oh and can anyone post photos of the Obi Wan Mythos in their Besta. I am thinking about getting this. But if I can't fit him in with Vader mythos in some way then it's a no go.

Never mind. I think I found one and it looks like if they would fit I could maybe out Vader to the right of him and even then it would be a tight fit.

love the statue... love it... but why would Obi Wan have a Jedi emblem clearly visible and dangle lightsabers from his pack after what went down during Order 66?

isn't a little incognito warranted?

Glad to hear you are thinking of grabbing Obi. You'll love it.

I never really got into the EU all that much until recently. I've just started reading a few of the pre-prequel EU books and I will be picking up Kenobi for sure.

But, I did read Shadows of the Empire back in the 90's when you couldn't go anywhere without some form of it being shoved in your face by either print, toys, music or video games. That book though was absolutely fantastic (it takes place between Empire and Jedi) but I haven't read it in about 10 years so I might be dusting that one off again for another read soon.

There's tons of them so it kinda depends on what you prefer. I tend to gravitate to Dark Side so that's most of what I have.
I have the Zahn tirology of course.
I like Old Republic and such so I bought Deceived (~3000 BBY) which focuses on Darth Malgus and it's a very good book (Fatal Alliance sucks).
I've heard very good things about the Darth Bane trilogy (~1200BBY) but haven't read it yet.
And ever since Ep 3 I've been dying to read the story of Sidious' master and it finally came out recently, Darth Plagueis but again haven't read it yet.

That's all I got.

I loved the Bane series. Read shadows of the empire for sure it's an excellent read. I've read it a couple times but I lost my copy of it.

This was the last Star Wars book that I just finished a couple weeks ago. It was one of my most wanted to read Star Wars books ever and it has an extremely high rating on Amazon so I thought it must be excellent. I was very highly disappointed in the book. (Don't worry, I'm not going to talk about any spoilers.)

I'd say close to 70-75% of the book is all Politics or Sith back-story and any action in it is very short and brief. If you would take the most boring parts of the prequel trilogy and put them in a book and then have them take up 300 plus pages of that book than Darth Plagueis is what you would come up with. Compared to any other Star Wars book I have read this book just doesn't even come close to being as gripping. There was no main antagonist in the book at all. Its written from the Sith's perspective which is really great, but nothing really happens other than behind the scenes politicking with countless side characters.

Also, the book is not entirely about Plagueis, its actually pretty close to a 50/50 split between him and Palpatine. This part I actually liked because I like the character of Palpatine so much, but I've read a lot of comments from other people who were hoping the book would have solely focused on Plagueis.

I'm not trying to discourage anyone from reading the book, I'm just trying to tell everyone that this is not an action novel.
