The LOTR dios are generally 1/7. They are smaller then the 1/6 SS Weta and new SS line.

It's just the sticker shock Josh from Maul to Obi. I understand there's a lot of detail but it's just such a huge jump in price for the same line.

I thought outside the bases they were about the same size.

I understand. I think I was more shocked by mauls price than obi-wan.

Wow, it's like a task force that's called into action whenever too many disparaging opinions are produced. My check engine light doesn't even operate as efficiently as you guys. =)

You better get that fixed to keep up around here. :nana:

Here is the deal. As it has been said this is a luxury hobbie we are involved in. Not everyone will be able to buy every piece they want.

I know. I am one of them. When I got my first few PFs it wa from selling my old SW toys and getting a second job. The second job was very few hours so it would take me several weeks or months to save for a piece I wanted.

After I had a large enough collection I would have to pick and choose what to keep if a new statue came along. I now have two kids and I am a stay at home dad so I don't have the Luxury in buying what anything I want. I have to sell items that I already have in order to upgrade to a better piece. No complaints. It's actually very fun. I will soon be going back to work but I think I will keep up this practice even though I am getting to the point were I don't have any more items I want to sell.

SS does not have to price things so everyone can afford it. They are a buisness and their goal is to make the cutomers wnat something and at the same time make money. Nothing wrong with that. If a piece comes out that you really really want but can't afford then make some cut backs somewhere else and save. Sell some of your other items. Quite Smoking or drink less soda. Don't eat out. There are all sorts of ways to save and get the items you really want.

Now at the same time I will say that the price on Obi Wan seems like a pretty big jump. Did the Boromir LOTR statue jump in price that much?? It is far more detailed then the rest of the line.

But it's not a really big deal to me. At that price point it will be a pass from me without complaint. If I really wanted it (like the Hulk Maquette) I would find a way to get it. Perhaps in hand photos will change my mind. But to come here and cry and complain on and on about the price makes no sense. If 350.00 is just to much then perhaps it's time to change your collecting habits.

I think that is why I was not in any way shocked or bothered by the Hulk maquette price. I really wanted it for one and it was a wake up call that perhaps this hobby is starting to pass me by.

I mean I sold a ton of my stuff to get what are grail pieces for me. Hulk, the SW droids and Batman. But with the price hikes I am aware that I will not just be able to snatch a piece when the moment strikes. I will have to take my time and decide if it's something I really want. Which is actually the way we should all collect anyways.

I would rather have a room filled with seven or eight higher priced pieces that I really love and want then a room filled with 40 or 50 pieces that are nice but have no real meaning.

Buy what you love and love what you buy. If you are in this hobby and 350.00 is really to much then you don't really love it.

This was way to long.

You make it sound like this is the first time you've seen people use the forums to complain.

I need to see this statue placed beside a PF to get a full appreciation for it I think.

Yeah I think I'll wait for in hand pics all long as it doesn't get low stocks.

That's actually pretty true. I remember when Maul Came out I expected him more in the $275 range. Still I expected Obi around $300 so...

I have an off the topic of question, if Obi is going into hiding why would he take his Jedi armor? Wouldn't wearing it kinda give away that you're a Jedi? So when would he need or want that? I think that the statue is really cool, but I only collect 1/4 scale so I wont be getting him. It just seems like a strange thing for him to want to take with him.

He wouldn't know for certain that he wouldn't need it over the next couple of decades.

As much as I was surprised by the price, Obi-wan completely blows me away. The detail, the age/sadness creeping into the sculpts is jaw-dropping. The backpack is icing on the cake and this will sit on a shelf in my room.

I've said this from the beginning; SS is sitting on a potential gold-mine that brings both SW and unrelenting creativity together. In the past they had very strict parameters that they had to stay inside. Now they get to color outside of the lines and I can't wait to see what else they produce.

The tecchnical complexity of sculpting and producing this piece may have been the main reasons behind the $350 price tag..

I expect the subsequent pieces to be in the $275 to $325 range.

I can't wait to get this obi statue, and I'd have no problems if sideshow charged $400 for vader as that will be an awesome piece.

Best likenesses of McGregor and Guiness I've ever seen from Sideshow. Does this mean improved versions of the 1/6 figures?
