Wow, it's like a task force that's called into action whenever too many disparaging opinions are produced. My check engine light doesn't even operate as efficiently as you guys. =)

Here is the deal. As it has been said this is a luxury hobbie we are involved in. Not everyone will be able to buy every piece they want.

I know. I am one of them. When I got my first few PFs it wa from selling my old SW toys and getting a second job. The second job was very few hours so it would take me several weeks or months to save for a piece I wanted.

After I had a large enough collection I would have to pick and choose what to keep if a new statue came along. I now have two kids and I am a stay at home dad so I don't have the Luxury in buying what anything I want. I have to sell items that I already have in order to upgrade to a better piece. No complaints. It's actually very fun. I will soon be going back to work but I think I will keep up this practice even though I am getting to the point were I don't have any more items I want to sell.

SS does not have to price things so everyone can afford it. They are a buisness and their goal is to make the cutomers wnat something and at the same time make money. Nothing wrong with that. If a piece comes out that you really really want but can't afford then make some cut backs somewhere else and save. Sell some of your other items. Quite Smoking or drink less soda. Don't eat out. There are all sorts of ways to save and get the items you really want.

Now at the same time I will say that the price on Obi Wan seems like a pretty big jump. Did the Boromir LOTR statue jump in price that much?? It is far more detailed then the rest of the line.

But it's not a really big deal to me. At that price point it will be a pass from me without complaint. If I really wanted it (like the Hulk Maquette) I would find a way to get it. Perhaps in hand photos will change my mind. But to come here and cry and complain on and on about the price makes no sense. If 350.00 is just to much then perhaps it's time to change your collecting habits.

I think that is why I was not in any way shocked or bothered by the Hulk maquette price. I really wanted it for one and it was a wake up call that perhaps this hobby is starting to pass me by.

I mean I sold a ton of my stuff to get what are grail pieces for me. Hulk, the SW droids and Batman. But with the price hikes I am aware that I will not just be able to snatch a piece when the moment strikes. I will have to take my time and decide if it's something I really want. Which is actually the way we should all collect anyways.

I would rather have a room filled with seven or eight higher priced pieces that I really love and want then a room filled with 40 or 50 pieces that are nice but have no real meaning.

Buy what you love and love what you buy. If you are in this hobby and 350.00 is really to much then you don't really love it.

This was way to long.

Thanks Nash for the free advertisement and changing the topic totally... some more of my work...I know I am no Mark Newman.. but thats why my prices are not in his price range in the first place..

If you are trying to embarrass me .. you will not.. but just your try is low as I though you are from the beginning..

I feel you and I am in your shoes .. I have a little daughter as well and family is first. This is still a hobby and I can not afford every statue I want neither. I sold also a lot of my old stuff to get into new things.

but...

Looks many still dont get my point about the strong increase from the first statue of this line. I dont argue if Obi is more money then Maul.. just the amount isnt right IMPO

In fairness no one has said SS are putting a gun to ones head and forcing people to buy it. They are questioning the inflation of prices which is substantial over a short period of time and also the price difference when compared to 1/4 scale PFs.

the chinese factories won't work for peanuts anymore

You and I are cut from the same cloth my friend. Well said.

why is every post you make so far removed from reality? do you ever do some fact checking or have some small comprehension of reality.. or the world around you.. for that matter.

right.. the $100 price increase is because the hourly wages of the chinese migrant workers went up by 20 cents from $1.5 to $1.7...

Labor still cost nothing in china, especially considering those are makeshift factories in the middle of nowhere, not regulated large manufacturer like apple's foxconn.

The cost of those pieces are the license fees and reseller discount (at least 30% haircut) but since this is sold only by sideshow in us, that's not as a big factor.
