love the statue... love it... but why would Obi Wan have a Jedi emblem clearly visible and dangle lightsabers from his pack after what went down during Order 66?

isn't a little incognito warranted?

If he was really worried about being incognito he would have invented a better fake name than "Ben Kenobi."

This was the last Star Wars book that I just finished a couple weeks ago. It was one of my most wanted to read Star Wars books ever and it has an extremely high rating on Amazon so I thought it must be excellent. I was very highly disappointed in the book. (Don't worry, I'm not going to talk about any spoilers.)

I'd say close to 70-75% of the book is all Politics or Sith back-story and any action in it is very short and brief. If you would take the most boring parts of the prequel trilogy and put them in a book and then have them take up 300 plus pages of that book than Darth Plagueis is what you would come up with. Compared to any other Star Wars book I have read this book just doesn't even come close to being as gripping. There was no main antagonist in the book at all. Its written from the Sith's perspective which is really great, but nothing really happens other than behind the scenes politicking with countless side characters.

Also, the book is not entirely about Plagueis, its actually pretty close to a 50/50 split between him and Palpatine. This part I actually liked because I like the character of Palpatine so much, but I've read a lot of comments from other people who were hoping the book would have solely focused on Plagueis.

I'm not trying to discourage anyone from reading the book, I'm just trying to tell everyone that this is not an action novel.

:exactly: 100% true. I didn't care for it either. There were times when I felt like I was forcing myself to read it just to finish the book.

I wish I could have found more people on Amazon with our point of view before purchasing the book lol. I swear I had to will myself to pick this book back up at times (almost daily) just to get through it. I hope the Kenobi book I pick up at the end of the month is on par with most other Star Wars novels.

With all of the great EU books, I hope they can give Sideshow some more great ideas for some new Mythos statues. I have to say I was disappointed that there were no new Mythos statues at this years SDCC, especially the Grievous that everyone seems to want to see.

See you guys don't seem to like but this to me makes me want it even more! I love politics and stuff like that.

If this is the case you absolutely need to buy this book! The politics themselves in it seem much more in depth than they were in the prequels and the politics also revolve around events that happen in other sw pre-prequel novels as well as whats going on behind the scenes during the phantom menace.

I was never trying to tell anyone to stay away from this book because the book is exactly what some sw fans are looking for and thats clear from the amazon reviews. It just wasn't my cup of tea.

The book has its pros and cons. It can be a difficult read. But I will say you will come away with a very different perspective of The Phantom Menace after reading it. And yes, it is mostly about Palpatine.

It is extremely politically dense, and you will have the "taxation of trade routes is in dispute" bit from TPM's opening crawl spelled out in grueling detail.

I actually enjoyed that too in ep1 :)

Soooo....thought I'd post this up because its just too good not to share. So, I got one of the Obi Wan Mythos statues from the first batch that shipped out and after Sideshow wouldn't do anything about a broken piece on the body, I ended up sending it back for a full refund with the intentions of just reordering another one after they refunded the money. I do this and then wait like everyone else for the second batch to ship out.

I then receive my second ObiWan statue and the body has a couple small pieces broken off, but they are easy fixes and won't be noticed once they are glued...so no big deal. However, the Ewan McGregor head had a big piece of one of his ears missing. I contact Sideshow and they ask for pics of everything, so I do that. In the email, I tell them that I am confident that I can fix the body but am just seeking the replacement Ewan McGregor head. I get an email back that they are sending out the new head as well as a new body for the statue. I'm a bit taken back by that since they weren't willing to do that for me when I ordered my first one, but I thought whatever...I'll take it.

I receive my replacement in a box that has custom packing foam for the body and head. This new replacement body has more pieces broken off than the one I have here, so I just figured I would keep my first one and destroy this one...no big deal. The replacement head looked great, except for the fact that when I went to put it in the statue I discovered that the magnet in the base of the head was upside down so it won't stick in the statue and just jumps out.

So...I contact Sideshow and they tell me to destroy the replacement body and head and that they would issue me a credit and send out a new McGregor head. I agree to this and today I receive my second replacement head...BUT...the new replacement head is a Alec Guinness sculpt instead of the McGregor one LOL! So...I call customer service and am awaiting a return call...FunFunFun...I just don't know what to think right now. :panic::rotfl

This is absolutely ridiculous. I have never seen more incompetence from a company EVER. This tells me that Sideshow employees have a very large communication issue with each other. This is what happens when a company is poorly managed, understaffed, and you have different people working on different shifts on different days.

I have been seeing more and more of these horror stories with Sideshow from other forums recently. I think Sideshow really needs to get their act together or they will start to lose customers quickly. I was about to order a couple of pieces from Sideshow, Mythos in particular, but with all of these issues that have been popping up lately, I'm questioning if Sideshow is a company I want to do business with.

Good luck to you and I hope that this gets sorted out for you.

Wow, sorry to hear that.
I'm lucky that my lcs carries this line.

Yeah...its been a ride for sure LOL! I honestly believe that they will make everything good in the end...but I just had to vent my frustration. If this piece wasn't absolutely amazing and my favorite in my collection, I would have just wrote it off and not reordered. On a side note, I have a replacement body for my 3PO exclusive on the way as the neck had a chunk missing from the front of the one I received and at this point I'm kind of nervous about what awaits me in the shipping box thats in the mail after dealing with this. :dunno :)

These quality control issues would be bad enough if it was only once, but since this is not the first piece you have had issues with it really speaks that there are many massive problems within this company.

If the Obi-Wan is your favorite piece I would absolutely demand perfection from Sideshow. There is no reason you should keep the body either if it was broken at all. These pieces are so expensive and there is absolutely ZERO reason a customer should have to repair the broken product themselves after the price they have paid.

The only way Sideshow is going to learn they need to fix these problems in their company is when their loyal customers stop purchasing from them and start filing some complaints with the Better Business Bureau: https://www.bbb.org/santa-barbara/Business-Reviews/collectibles/sideshow-collectibles-in-thousand-oaks-ca-92000502

Sideshow should also start hiring staff to inspect every piece before it ships out. That should at least take care of all the pieces that will be returned with paint defects.

I got this 1 a week ago. My first sideshow piece and I just have to say that it blew my mind. Its such an complex figure. I dont have anything else yet from sideshow to compare it with but no doubt that this is one of their best statues.

I don't know how you keep from breaking anything or punching a wall.
It'll get resolved but just the hassle of going through this is enough to make me want to :computer:google:banghead:cuss:explode:

Broke Down and Ordered from SSC!!!

Just love the idea of displaying this alongside Vader! Showing where each chosen path has lead them. Pretty must know to display Vader with his helmet off.

This mythos line will be the end of me :)
