Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

Perhaps one step closer to Rambo 4 figure. I believe this figure is on the same muscle body as the Dutch figure. Build would work just fine for Rambo 4 I think.

oh nice spot! yeah i think that body would work great for john g. with the looser black t-shirt over it.

come on HT - don't leave us hanging with this one!

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

Man the figure market is crazy. They look soo realistic now, but the prices have also doubled, not so sure how happy I am about that. There are alot of figures i would consider if they weren't so damn expensive

Yeah, the body's a bit too in shape, but if the t-shirt is properly loose it won't matter.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

I'm easily more pumped about a Rambo 4. Rambo is my favorite of the 2 characters, and also, Rocky I only have a figure of, Rambo, I've got the series represented by at least one figure from each film so there's a nagging feeling not having the 4th film represented as it's all I need. I remember when they did the first First Blood figure, my first thought was, now they have to do 3 so I have them all. As soon as Rambo 4 got a green light to be made, my first thought was I need an HT figure from it.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

I seriously hope they won´t use this Muscle Body for Rambo and Rocky Balboa(If it is Balboa they will make). This body on Rocky Balboa is just wrong, because there is no shirt to cover the upper body except the Robe, but still...

Those huge upper arms and chest just aint Sly,i won´t be happy with this body.

Well, in reality, you're right, in figure world, I have a feeling for a Rambo, our option would be either this body, or the traditional muscle body used on the previous Rambos, which is too slender looking for Rambo 4, so when I get excited over the Dutch body, it's not so much I feel that's the perfect body for a Rambo, it's just the perfect one of HT muscle bodies we've seen. I'd be surprised to see them make a muscle body specifically for Rocky Balboa and Rambo 4 unless they felt it could be used on other figures as well. Assuming this is the Dutch body, there's 2 figures already getting use of it, Rambo 4 could make 3. The downside of the 1/6 world is sometimes figures aren't exact representations due to the need for using standard bodies. I think all the HT Rambos look really nice, but they're on bodies that ammount to about a 6 foot tall man, which sly is not, so the bodies aren't in perfect proportion. This new muscle body may not be the exact right build for Rambo 4, but it's closer than the other one and I don't think would look too bad. If HT makes a body that's right for RB and R4, great, I'll be all the more delighted, but as I expect recycling to occur, I'm just embracing and being hopeful to see one on this body.

this is very true.

but for DX figures, maybe HT can give us the perfect body for each fig ...? :monkey3:naughty

that for me would justify the DX label. it's going the extra mile. for rocky and rambo, sly's physique is so much a part of his characters i'd really love them to incorporate this into the very best top of the range figure.

but i think more realistically and from a business perspective, even for a DX line, reuse is more likely. i agree with rock that the body isn't perfect, but like sean said, it's closer than the others.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

i guess it "Works" for Rambo 4 with a baggy T shirt but not perfect...but for Balboa it doesnt work at all when you will display it without any shirt.

Im crossing my fingers for a Sly body,if i say im satisfied with the Dutch body, that´s what we will be getting. After all the nitpicking over at the TDK threads HT seem to listen.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

absolutely - no way it'd work for balboa. i'm praying they give us a newly developed body for a balboa fig. otherwise an easy miss for me.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

I would hope the DX spirit of going above and beyond could mean willing to make a body that's right for that one figure or 2 figures even if that's all you ever get out of it, but my gut tells me it means things like PERS and more or largere accessories than they'd normally pack into a figure, like the .50 cal machine gun.

I remember when I got my Rambo 4 statue thinking man, this might stand out with my HT figures being so bulky looking, but then it occurred to me, it's roughly a 1/6 statue of Sly's build and size, where HT's Rambos are 1/6 figures if Rambo were 6 feet tall, so really, the figures are more misproportioned than the statue. It's just something I've come to embrace with standardized figures, sometimes you'll get one and it'll feel dead on right looking for the character, and other times it'll be close and still kickass, but not quite right. Which is how I view Rambo 4. Would Dutch's body be too toned and too big sure, but will it be close enough to give Rambo that beefier look than the old muscle body, absolutely, and thus a more badass looking figure.

People have talked about comissions for Rambo 4 heads, I have never supported or gotten involved in the notion because I haven't seen a 1/6 body on the market that was right, they've talked about making it to go ont he existing Rambo bodies and I wasn't spending money on a head I new wouldn't work with the body. When Dutch debuted, I got excited and felt Rambo 4 was more realistic because finally we had a body close enough it could work, and I think that's what held HT back from making one, that they knew the old body wouldn't work either.
