Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

If the whole Rambo line were consistent, even if older and not HT's best stuff, I'd be ok with it, the fact that only 3 and M65 really look like they go together does leave me open to getting replacements for Rambo 2 and FB.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

Yeah for sure, but a Rambo 2 won`t sell good unless there is a interesting hatch, kinda like FB and the Poncho version, but what can you do with a Rambo 2?Singlet and the Halo jacket with the Black Headband maybe, but we allready have the Halo jacket and Headsculpt with black headband so that`s not enough.

Believe me i would love a Upgraded Rambo 2 but the chances arent enough for HT to Re-Release it.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

Well, I think you could easily sell a Rambo 2 upgrade without too much different from the first simply because of the upgrades and it seems like a fair number of collectors may want it but missed out when it was around. And for me, the Halo figure wasn't worth it, and I'm sure others too, so you could borrow parts from that set.

If I were doing Rambo 2 over, I'd have it:

- Interchangable portraits, black and red head band versions with differing sculpts
- Black military pants
- Military boots with knife sheath
- Military belt with back knives and side knife sheath
- Knife
- Bow, arrows and quiver
- Black military shirt
- Black tank top
- AK-47
- Co Boa necklace
- Custom 1/6 Plastic True Type in the style of Wolverine with accurrate scars
- Not sure the model, but the machine gun from the helicopter with the belt fed bullets, which I really wish came with the original, to me it's more a signature weapon than the AK, i mean how classic is him shooting the ^^^^ out of the base when he gets back.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

That would be great.A Slimmer body too, after i bought the Enterbay Bruce Lee`s i realized how big those HT bodies really are,and Sly was Ripped, but a small man back in the 80`s.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

I wouldn't go slimmer, the mass seems fine on the figures, in fact I find it looks about right for Rambo 3, it looks undersized for Rambo 3, and FB for some reason looks too big.

The real trouble is, they're all too tall for Sly, the base bodies are for someone like 6 foot tall, the legs always look too long of Sly.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

Have you ever seen a Enterbay figure in person?I didn`t realize how big a HT body is before i got a Enterbay Bruce Lee.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

No I haven't, but just looking at the Rambo 2 figures proportions, it seems like if he were just like 1/2 inch to an inch shorter he'd look right, I feel like you'd have to scale down the heads too for the right look and HT's heads are all pretty much the same.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

Exactly as is, I don't think M65 would be much more than it was before, Trautman, yeah he'd be about $40 more, for what little difference there'd be, not worth $40, but I would love to see a new Trautman with today's headsculpt quality, and in his Rambo 2 gear, always liked that look best.

I got to disagree with you on that Trautman headsculpt quality being better today. I really like it the way it is, and for $65 when released, it still holds up pretty good.

How much better do you think a Richard Cranner headsculpt going to get??????????????

Quite a bit, the original was done in the early days of HT, one today would look almost like a 3D photo compared to the original, look how much better Rambo 3 and M65 look compared to Rambo 2, same improvements would apply to Trautman.

A nicer trautman would be great, but either way I am happy with the one we got.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

finally got my hands on the M65 jacket! going to be my first Rambo! can't wait for it to arrive!!

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

Congrats,it is the best one of the Rambo`s,my favourite figure in my entire collection,by far!

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

I'm considering getting a narrow TT for it, should try him out on it see how it looks, my only dissappointment with the figure on the regular TT is how wide he looks.

Granted it's a painting, but it's accurrate.

The regular TT looks a bit too flat and broad shoulders, but the narrow may improve that.

He looked pretty average build in First Blood, not very muscular or anything.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

yeah if you try, please let me know how that works for you.

Interesting that you use that painting as an example,i have spoken with the guy that paint these Rambo and Rocky paintings,he sells that First Blood Copied piece for 40$ that is 20 x 17 inches big.Very talented guy:

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

Yes, he's quite talented, i actually looked to his RAMBO collage when doing my own illustration for reference, helps to see how other artists tackle the same subject if you can do it.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

I think Bill would love to see your Rambo,he is a bigger Sly fan than you and me combined :lol

I have 3 paintings done by Bill Pruitt,1 Balboa,Rocky IV celebration with flag, and the famous painting of Apollo vs Rocky Sparring at the moment they both throw the punch, you know which one, from the End Scene in Rocky 3.
I will order First Blood right now actually,i forgot all about it before you mentioned it now,i was broke earlier so i couldn`t afford it.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

When I'm truly done with my illustration, I may send it to StalloneZone too, see if somehow I could get Sly himself to see it, that'd be like a dream, but I have some refinements to make to it. I'm not sure if you're familiar with artist Jerry Vanderstelt, does more Sci-Fi fantasy stuff, quite a bit of Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, I love his style, he makes the kind of work I aim for my stuff to look like and he posts here so I actually PMed him for some feedback on my Rambo and he had some good points and I think if I can figure out how to achieve them, it'll be even better than it is now, but like everything in my Rambo illustration, it's breaking new ground and experimenting and I really have to pour myself into it, so waiting for my mind to be in that right place.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

No never heard of him,but i am familiar with stallonezone,i check the site once in a while.

To show off your illustration to Sly himself would be awesome,he would for sure appreciate the work you`ve done.Bill Pruitt got in touch with Sly because of his amazing painting skills so the possibility is always in the air.

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

Yeah, I figure getting it to StalloneZone could pay off for him at least seeing it, whether I ever got any acknowledgement who knows, but that's why I want it to be the best it can.

Back onto figures, digging this up for PF discussion, just wanted to illustrate, if they redid Rambo 2, this is how I feel his hair should look.

The current figure looks more right for very early on when he first arrives in Nam, but for a figure of him trying to sum up the whole movie, I'd rather more like from when he's captured on.

Of course, if they did redo it, I say do one head with hair like this and black bandana and do the red like the photo I posted, then we get the best of both :)

Re: Official Hot Toys Rambo Line Thread

HT is really milking some figure lines right now, like a Battle Damaged Iron Man and John Conner so why not 3 more Rambo`s?Upgraded Rambo 2 battle damaged and Poncho Rambo, and off course,RAMBO.

HT have really given us plenty of joy with the Rambo Line, variants like M65 Rambo,Trautman and Halo Jumper are figures you wouldn`t expect in the first place.I didn`t like to hear that HT will make a DX Rambo as DX means the end of a Figure line...Poncho Rambo and RAMBO would capture alot of interest so i don`t see a reason why they should stop with just one more, not sure Rambo 2 would be a big hit but i definitely want a upgraded figure.
