You should be able to purchase a quartz crystal cheap from a jewelry type stall at a market or a souvenir shop. Should only cost a couple of dollars.

Just have to share with folks who know how good it feels to find a great deal in this hobby. I was at one of the local comic shops, digging through their clearance...and bought the Hot Toys 1:6 Jor-El for $49.00 plus tax :chew.

that's an awesome deal. :banana

I wonder if I should be getting rid of my 2 in 1 now, given the Reeve rumors that are out there? I'm presuming the price will drop once a Reeve Superman is made.

You probably presume correctly, but I'm not sure how much. A couple of issues I can think of. First off, the likeness will have to be pretty good to make people forget about the existing versions. Knowing Hot Toys, it could look just like him, or it could look as much like Reeve as "Hugh Jackman" looks like Wolverine. Secondly, it could rekindle interest in the existing figures. 2-in-1 is more "comic Superman" than "Routh Superman," in my opinion. People wanting a comic type version to go along with their Reeve version could well keep the price high or even raise the price.

Actually, the price on 2-in-1 isn't outrageously high right now. $250 or so is not far removed from what a newer Hot Toys figure would cost, particularly one with 2 outfits (like Thriller Jackson, which pre-sells for $190 from Sideshow's site).

Do auctions normally end around $250? The only BiN's I've seen are all about $400.

Even if they don't get the likeness rights for Reeve - and of course I hope they do - I'll bet it's still a good looking sculpt, just as the 2 in 1 Superman head looks nothing like Routh but still looks great. And it would probably be more 'comic looking' because of the outfit.

We don't see a lot of auctions on that with a low starting bid, so many never get bid on. The $400+ ones don't really sell. They're just hanging out there, but I saw a couple going for roughly $250 over the last month or so, but they were BINs. The one auction I found that did seem to end recently went for nearly $300, so maybe my estimate was a bit low.

Guys says only 1,200 were produced. If so, that's a lot lower than I expected! For possibly the finest Superman figure ever produced (most well known superhero there is), released in that quantity, $250-300 is not bad at all, IMO.

Here is a couple of picture of my 2in1 Superman, I had the original V.1 and sold if for the, imo, superior V.2.

I've put cotton wall in his chest to bulk him up some what...

Hi Grange, you reminded me about the bulk up.

For mine, I used a sheet of thin layer foam to cover the whole body (from shoulder to waist). And you will get a perfect body build shape.
No more skinny waist line.

I too still prefer the V1 sculpt... although I do wish I'd gone ahead and had him repainted as the production pics look a bit like he's in drag :lol

It's funny, you get two sides to the HT Supermen... v1 because of the closer likeness to Routh or v2 because it's simply a higher quality figure.

I did have a v1 and even then I had him displayed with the Superman sculpt that came with Clark Kent. Once I got the 2 in 1 I sold/traded both (v1 and Clark). To be honest I'm happy very happy with the 2 in 1 Superman but would rather have v1 Clark Kent over the 2 in 1 version.... Something about the dorky look on his face. :huh

So, do you figure the (apparently) confirmed Hot Toys Christopher Reeve Superman will reduce or increase the value/price of the two-in-one Routh Superman?

I don't have a HT Superman yet, and I wouldn't mind having both the CR and the BR ... so I wouldn't mind seeing the price fall a bit (at least until I find one for a reasonable price).

Any recommendations on where to get one for a reasonable price, and which version to get? (I'm leaning two-in-one, but I've heard the V1 is good too).
