Without doubt this is one of my favorite figures. I never get tired of seeing pics of HT Supes. Can't wait to see yours, congerking.

He looks great, have to compare tonight.

FYI: it looks very disturbing to just see the head sitting there. :D :D

Yeah, now that you point it out...it does...:lol

I intend on taking some nice pics this weekend. I always said I would, now I actually WILL...

That is a very nice repaint man. You brought out the Routh scuplt really well.

Well, I did it. I got the Hot Toys Superman from a Freak member for a great price. I paid $175.99 for my Medicom Superman shipped; I got the HT for $174.95. Just a few cents cheaper lol :D
I can honestly say I wish I had gone with this version to begin with. He looks, feels and carries him-self better than the Medicom version. This is not a knock on the Medicom version, just an observance.
To me the Medi would be great for a comic version of Superman and can pass for the new version of his suit that was recently seen in the "Up, Up and Away" arc in Superman and Action Comics. His build and head push for the comic version of Superman to be made by Medicom. Now, if the mail-away figure for classic Superman was coming instead of Clark, I would be on that like white on rice.
The Hot Toys version, IMO seems to capture the essence of Routh. While it is not a carbon copy of his person, I think that it does capture his look rather well. It is said that wrinkles make the man and I believe that when I look at my Sideshow Bond figures and this figure. If you look at images of Routh before or during his stint on Superman, he doesn't carry many wrinkles. That is what saves this sculpt, in my opinion.
The costume on mine was not up to par as I would have liked though. I had to futz with it in the collar and the right cape connection. It was not the sellers fault has he never removed Clark from his prison, but was a factory mishap. The stitching in the cape was coming undone but luckily I got Clark right as I was leaving college and going home for fall break. So I had 2 and half hours to figure out how to fix him. At first I thought about going down the back of the costume and then later re-stitch it, but then I got the brilliant idea to use hot glue. So I hot glued the cape to the base of the neck line.
The collar was another story. The hem was showing on mine and I knew I didn’t want that to be the Achilles heel of this Superman. So I glued that down on the neck and it really looks nice. When ever I move the head up or down, the costume follows suit as well. This is a really neat by accident of the procedure. The rest of the costume is top notch.
The boots are really neat. They defiantly have the better detail than the DCD’s and Medicom’s boots. They are flexible, but not to the extent as Medicom’s, which is really a bummer but one that I can live with.
One of my favorite features is the cape. I LOVE it. This is the first cape on my sixth scale Supermen (as of right now I have 8) that is full, great length and flaps in the wind just the way I like it. I feel like a kid at Christmas again, flying my Superman around the house. It is great.
Another cool thing is the way he displays with the Takara Batman. Both really do complement the other. I do want to see Takara do Superman, but for right now the HT covers for the future Man of Steel. But I may eventually pick up a Hot Toys Batman, just to finish the set.
Sorry I don’t have pictures yet. I don’t have a digital camera but one of my buddies does, so I may be borrowing that this weekend and getting some pictures up on the web. And if anyone was wondering I got number 36 out of the 1200 made.

pretty much agree with everything you said bats. He is my favorite figure and I wouldn't lose him for anything. I hope to get pics of mine up soon, and I hope to see yours.

HT did a awesome version. He's in my top 5 favorite figures.

Now if they could only give us a Spider-Man.

Agreed! HT really needs to make a Spidy.....hopefully the movie version!

I don't know, medi spider-man is pretty awesome looking. but i would like to see a HT version of him. NEVER have enough spideys.

A Hot Toys Spiderman would be insane! They're the only ones I would trust to get the suit right.

Can't have more Spidey 1/6. I also hope Hot Toys make it. I am totally disapointed of Medicom's 1/6 movie spiderman.

I don't know - Medicom's 1/6 movie Spidey was pretty good. The raised webbing, the extra hands, everything about it was great except that the boots weren't flexible enough for him to get in the extreme Spidey poses.

I have the Medicome Spider-man and let me tell you that figure is freaking insane!!! The most poseable figure that I own bar none and the costume and quality is second to none. I wouldn't mind having another Spider-man but I don't think HT can make one that's much better if at all. If you like Spidey, you owe it to yourself to buy one now!!!

Cheers,

Brad

The boots is what kept me from buying him. They should have done them like the hands: cloth to the ankles then sculpted feet.

Trust me Spidey is awesome, not just awesome looking. And yes I'd love to see a Hot Toys version of Spider-Man. With Spider-Man 3 right around the corner anything is possible.

My Superman Returns!

Okay boys and girls. I recently had the great Les Walker (Figuremaster Les) repaint my HT SR and then followed his excellent tutorial to do a "heel lift" so he is now taller than the HT BB. I took a number of pics and will be posting them very soon so stay tuned!
