As a long time Superman Fanboy, I loved SR, not so much for the film itself because it was too close to Superman: The Movie, it really felt like after all the time passed, Lex was still just trying to do the same ol' thing. I loved Routh as Superman/Clark I felt he was just new enough but still captured a lot of the Reeveisms that I loved in the original film. When I saw Superman doing his thing I was automatically reverted to seven years old with hope in my eyes about my favorite hero saving the world. Didn't care much for the Jason White storyline because even though it was a nice humanistic touch it all felt forced and unexplored. Wasn't handled well enough to be respected.

As for the sequel, I can't wait honestly because even Singer knows there has to be more action but if I could choose a villain it'd definitely be BRAINIAC. With the new special effects technologies and designs that span a good few decades, they could really do the character justice not to mention give us great shots of Krypton in its prime....the only issue might be Singer's desire to keep the connection to the original films so without Marlon Brando's inclusion any inclusion of Krypton might be out of the realms of possibilities.

I'd like to see a villain who could go blow for blow with Superman. Braniac, Bizarro, Darkseid, just a good fist to fist fight. Lex is great, one of the best villains ever, but I dis-like the Hackman/Spacey comedic corny approach, I prefer the Animated series and more series version portrayed in comics. SR did have a lot in common with the first, I mean once Luther started making the Kryptonite land mass I could only think of his real estate plan in 1. Should have been something better, like the green armored Kryptonite suit he's known for! Maybe in 2. Also, they better wrap that kid thing up, I think it's lame-o. That's me though.

The problem I see with Superman Returns is that it seems to be geared for an older audiance at the expense of the younger fanboys. It clearly wasn't aimed at the audience that Fantastic Four got and it's exactly the younger fanboys who seem to be the most dissapointed. It was slow in the begining, it got complicated just as it sped up and instead of an action packed act three like Matrix 3 or X2, it had a nod to the death of Superman and the last fifteen minutes played like the final act of an episode of Smallville. Me, I have no problem with that paradigm -- I loved the film for what worked and didn't blame the film for not showing me a balls out super-brawl. But I can understand how some movie goers might blame the film for their unmet expectations.

It's clear that Singer was a fan of the Donner films and not the comic book character. He trusted Donner's instincts and choices instead of reinventing the hero. Along those lines, I think the villian in the next one, based on Singer's comments at ComicCon about going all Wrath of Kahn on the sequel, might be Zod escaping from the Fortress of Solitude. I would rather see a new villian, especally as Zod got so much play in Smallville recently, but I can wait to see the film before I complain.

Using Zod now could sink this franchise in Donner-rehash-itis IMO. We need a new Villain, not another Donner remake, this is what hurt SR in the first place -- finding a fresh approach for a sequel means finding a new Super Villain.

There are only about 3,000 available storylines to choose from between comics ,TV Series, etc.

I simply don't trust Singer's creative approach at this point, he had his shot.

As much as I enjoyed the walk down memory lane with Superman Returns, they definitely have to take the series in a new direction with the next one and get away from the Donner worship. One of the things that hurt SR was having Lex Luthor as the villain whom we'd already seen onscreen in 3 of the 4 Reeve movies, rehashing Zod would be a huge mistake imo. We need a fresh villain and a faster pace.

I loved the movie and really had no complaints... But I do agree that a newer un-used villian would be key. Hopefully Brainiac as he has always been a cool villian for Supes... Maybe even work Bizarro into the plot. That would be awesome. Just to give it more action and do something the fans haven't seen.... I think that's really what is needed.

Zod was cool, but not again. It's overdone. Luthor can still be in the film, but hopefully as a side character and not the main villian. I liked how they utilized him in Superman II, he was there... but not the main show. :lol

100x better xeno, congrats, great pics too! :D

You should do some flying poses like the INIMITABLE Darkartist...

supes looks 100% better all right. most noticable change for me is in the eyes. wish I would repaint minelike that, but i'm too scared I would ruin it forever.

Yup, Neo did a pretty good imitation of Superman with Kung Fu.

While I liked Singers Superman Return, I wish the Wachowski Brothers could have done it instead.

I personally loved the movie Superman Returns, and for the first time in a long time, I genuinely didn't want a film to end. I thought it was fabulous. The action set pieces were just astounding, the emotional depth to supes/clarke was better than we're ever seen. I thought the music was very well done, and took the existing themes and added to them.

I hope they don't listen to the complaining fanboys too much and mess up the sequel in an attempt to try and please them. The movie was just fine as it was.

Xeno, that looks amazing! Did you repaint it? if not who did? I'd love to get mine repainted like that!

yeah for the first time you actually got the feeling that her was looking after the whole planet, not just north america.

I loved when he got back first gets back, and he's flicking through the tv channels and all the bad stuff on the news. And you can see it in his face "his nothing changed? is it always going to be like this? ...I'm not sure I want to do this anymore"

and then once he does it for one night, and he's watching himself on telly the next day, you can see how smug and pleased he feels with himself

love it :lol

I don't have a HT Superman, while I freely admit he is a great figure, he is way overpriced for what you get. Look at all the armor and pieces that come with the Predator and USCM's and they are less $$. Even Bats has more to him. The Superman should be in the 90-100 range IMHO. Also while the great facial repaints really make the likeness pop out and Brandon comes alive, I feel for as much as you have to pay for these figures, the figure should be better straight out of the box. Sadly, there is no really good redition is a reasonable price range, so I am doing a custom. More on that later :).

In regards to the Returns film...
I am a lifelong fan of Superman in film and in comics. Obviously Brandon should not be compared with Chris Reeve and he doesn't need to. I think he stands well on his own and I admit that his portrayal is very loyal to what a lot of comic writers have done with Superman in the past few years. My main problems are that I never really cared for those interpretations of Superman, personally. The aloof and godlike characterization has been seen a lot in comics, but I much prefer the more humaness in the character like John Byrne and Alan Moore (to name a few) have written. And I have 2 big problems in the film, Clark drinking a Budweiser with Jimmy at the bar. And Superman hovering outside of Lois' house, watching her and her family. I found that is was too creepy voyeur/stalker-like and way out of line. I know it probably was just he cares and wanted to check on Lois, but it just struck me wrong.
