Bone Clones is a SUPERB company. They sell not only to universities and museums, but private collectors as well, fortunately. We have a good number of their products about the office, and I have the Siberian tiger skull mounted atop my television. Each and every one of their items is exacting in detail and absolutely stunning. I guarantee you would not be disappointed in the Tyrannosaur skull.

Thanks for the info. I'm thinking about get it.

Do you have any of the Favorite/DinoStoreus skull models, Scar? I'm curious how it compares to those in overall quality, since they're less expensive.

I don't own any personally, but I've seen a few of them. They look good, but have a distinctive quality wherein you certainly see them as statues. The point of Bone Clones is that each item is made to look and feel like well-preserved bone, claw, horn, etc. It's a league of difference to me. The Dinostoreus items are very, very cool, but if I had a choice between a Bone Clones and Dinostoreus item in the same scale, I would go with Bone Clones.

I've got the opposite problem, having seen the Dinostoreus skulls in person, but none of the Bone Clones pieces. I think the Rex skulls are nearly the same size, so I suppose the question would be, is the quality difference worth paying triple the price?

On a more Dinosauria-related note, here's how I mock all you exclusive-edition snobs. Muahahah!

Exclusives are still issued prior to regular edition pieces, which means we snobs still have the best chance of the best paint apps. ;)

The picture well-illustrates my point. You can tell that those are statues. They don't look like actual fossils, which is the entire point of Bone Clones; their company is built around making products as close to the real thing in every way - appearance, color, texture, etc. That's where the real difference sits for me. Dinostoreus makes quality products, but when the two produce the same I can't imagine there being any comparison.

With Dinosauria, since the edition sizes are so small it's negligible, but things are less likely to be overlooked with them since they're issued first. The low edition sizes on Dinosauria is spectacular.

That was what I was told concerning the LotR line. I would assume it holds true across the board.

Also, don't get me wrong, I like the Dinostoreus items, but Blone Clones are my personal preference for such collectibles. Across the board. I wouldn't turn my nose up at a Dinostoreus piece for a decent price, though! :D

Well, anytime you wanna make a "decent" offer, you let me know. :D

I also have created a celebratory banner for some news I got while talking to Sideshow on the phone today: The Tyrannosaurus maquette is in stock, and will start shipping out any day now!

Whatcha think?

Also, goes without saying that we're all responding with more than sparing alacrity concerning the imminent release of his majesty. Excellent news.

Of course. Just imagine how impressive we might seem if we could inflate our resumes with the awards we've accumulated in grammar school. I believe this is a tactic used by the blowfish, no?

Anyway, I can't wait to see this piece. My shelves are waiting, red carpet and all.

I don't get it. And don't drag the good name of the blowfish into this! :lol They're actually fascinating predators. Rather than traditional dentition their teeth are fused into a double beak with which to pulverize prey. Outstanding. You should see them go after guppies! I used to have a Figure Eight puffer named Hindenburg who could polish off 20 guppies in one sitting. The girlfriend had one named Chompers who was equally rapacious. Great creatures.

And I resent daily that everything I did prior to college is inutile. In hindsight it's so sad that all of that effort just served to get me to the next tier in academia.

Very awesome banner. And very awesome news that the Rex will be shipping any day. I can't wait.

Also, thanks for the news about the exclusives Scar, I didn't realize that.

I know I'll be checking my e-mail religiously over the next few days for some confirmation from SS! :rock

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but I've got a question about the Carnotaurus. I just took mine out of the box to re-display it after putting it away for a couple of months and noticed a small, perfectly circular hole underneath one of the tiny arms. Is this an imperfection or is this present on all of them?
