I grew up with the classic Marx prehistoric playset. Nothing like today's more accurate offerings from Battat or the Carnegie Collection. These came with cavemen which I happily displayed with the dinos. Fauna from all eras of the Mesozoic through the Ice Age too. At the time didn't think it unusual to pit a T-Rex against a Dimetrodon or a wooly mammoth, or the cavemen for that matter. Fun while it lasted and actually miss that set. :monkey2

I guess you didn't have the dinosaur set I did where the steg was bight orange and yellow and the rex was bright green and yellow. The brotosaurus was pink and yellow, and the brachiosaurus was blue and purple. :lol Damn I loved those toys.
actually most of my dinosaur toys came from the Science Museum in MN. they tried to make them pretty accurate but that was back in the 80's. i think there has been advances in paleontology and dino knowledge since then.

my carnotaurus exclusive came today. i opened him for inspection with the idea of packaging him up agian till i can get some more shelf space. but it was so cool looking and such a ^^^^^ to repackage that i kept him out. nothing appeared to be broken so that is good. i got number 22. nice low number. he was bigger than i expected but not too big. can't wait for the t-rex now.

Ah, the Marx dinos. Really quite hideous, but still a heck of a lot of fun. I think I lost the T.rex on the school bus one day. I used to carry it everywhere with me; it was quite devastating to me at the time. :lol

Congrats on the low edition Carno! Keep him a safe distance from the vicious Rex when he arrives.

Thanks dan and scar for your answers to my colour question :)

Pays to wait, does it not? :D

I think Sideshow has said that the numbers are completely random. The low numbers could be the first or last or somewhere in the middle to go out.

Yep, it's entirely a crapshoot. Doesn't really matter with Dinosauria as all of the pieces thus far in a given addition are of the same excellent quality due to the low ES cap, but in other cases with much higher edition sizes, the factor of chance with edition numbers can be most frustrating.

God creates dinosaurs. God destroys dinosaurs. God creates man. Man destroys God. Man creates dinosaur collectibles.

Dinosaur collectibles destroy Man's bank account.

So true.

I ordered every dinosaur from this line and I ended up cutting back on food and convenient transportation....well, made me lose a lot of weight.

LoL, nice. I might have to borrow that sometime for a signature banner.

So anyone want to guess how long it will be before a new Dinosauria statue is announced? I am going to bet on... October. :D

October sounds good, maybe early November. And I think the other will be mid-late December.

It's a big event Sideshow does every year during the week of Halloween. There will be discounts and specials throughout the site. The past few years they've done them hidden so you just have to randomly click around and maybe you'll get lucky and find one. They also have straight promotions and discounts on various items. They'll announce some new products too. It's a fun time.

Oh, that's clever. I do something similar but it's... sort of in an educational context. Is it mainly discounts or anything that's completely free as a prize?

They run a variety of contests and events, and there are also a plethora of announcements either of new lines or new pieces. I believe last year featured the first Dinosauria piece, yes? Someone correct me if I am mistaken. I know it featured the Uruk-hai berserker which was previewed and went up for pre-order around the same time as the diorama.

There will be contests where items will be given away free as a prize. It's similar to their SDCC and Toy Fair events, there's just not physical event to go along with it.
