Is the 1/8 scale a one-off set or the start of a new range? Id love a year one set of all 3 child characters in this scale, it would be too cute to comprehend, but maybe one day have the funds for the 1/6

I don't get the point of the 1/8 scale figures. They won't be much smaller than the 1/6 scale so they're probably going to remain pretty expensive for casual collectors. If Star Ace wanted to start a smaller scale, they should have done 1/12 that way they could offer stuff like an in scale Hungarian Horntail. Also, I'd probably be able to afford more characters that I have to pass on with the regular line.

It's the start of a new range. The intent is for them to be in the $100-120 price range.

That price range doesn't sound too bad actually. I was thinking that they'd be closer to $150, since they'd only be a couple inches smaller.

Harry looks like a scaled down version of the POA figure that SA announced a few weeks ago.

If Star Ace is looking to make even smaller figures though, 1/12 is the way to go!

1/8th figures are kind of interesting because to me it seems like a preemptive preparation for a possible collapse or implosion of the 1/6th market. I am of the mind that in approximately 2-3 years, many companies will have priced out many of their potential customers with price increases and significant chunks of the customer base will have to give up the hobby. Introducing this scale creates a viable alternative that, if successful, I expect the other major companies to emulate. I love 1/6th scale but I've already seen at least 2-3 figures on preorder in the past few months that would've been no brainers for me, I saw the price tags, and said,"Just can't do it".

Hmm. I don't know. We're not talking about the difference between enormous quarter-scale polystone statues and sixth scale statues here.

The potential cost savings between a 1:6 figure and a 1:8 figure seems like it should be minimal. Reducing figures from 12" to 9" won't bring down the cost of the licensing, nor the cost of creating the likenesses or the wages of the factory workers painting/making the figures or the salaries of the manufacturer's employees.

Star Ace might start out with cheap 9" figures to try to hook collectors, but how long will it be before enormous price hikes like the Harry Potter 1:6 line has had over the past year and a half?

25% less materials (plastic/fabric) will be used and the packaging will be a bit smaller and cheaper, but those seem like places for only small-time savings comparatively. I just don't see where huge savings are going to come from in a slightly smaller scale, unless the quality of the sculpting, paint and tailoring are also going to take a significant hit.

As far as the market crashing--Hot Toys is still #1 by miles, and hasn't been raising their prices for the last year or so anyway. It's mostly the little guys like Star Ace with the huge price spikes. I think it's more likely that Hot Toys will let their profit for each figure take a slight hit if necessary than price out their 1:6 collecting market.

If its a market trend prediction then i have to agree with others on here that 1/12 makes much more sense.

Being new to Harry Potter myself (shocking i know) it seems strange Star Ace missed an obvious accessory, Gryffindor scarves.

We're only 8 weeks away from the premiere of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, hoping to see some stuff soon if Star Ace is doing figures from the film.

I'd guess we'll see something in a few weeks. Hype for this hasn't been anywhere near Force Awakens levels so I wouldn't expect anything to be shown now, like with HT and TFA last year.

I hope we see if they're making a Newt Scamander soon: I was hoping to display him with Noble Collection's new Magical Creatures line. :D

This line is getting huge. Love all the offerings and the coming soon ones. Wish I had room for them all.

Looks good. I think I'm probably gonna miss the boat on the Harris one due to financial budget issues, but I think I can do the Gambon one if he comes out a few months from now.

Their Harrisdore looks fantastic, and I love the coloring of the robes, but of the two portrayals, I prefer Gambondore more (and it doesn't hurt that that last six movies are better than the first two) so I will definitely pick up this version as as soon as it comes out.
