Re: Official NECA The Terminator Thread
I honestly couldn't tell you what it is that I think is throwing it off. I thought the hair was OK, so we're opposite again on that one!
Lol, agreed, this is getting to be a habit
. I remember his hair as being more spiky, if you see what I mean, as opposed to the kind of 80's-anchored cut he sports here. One thing on which I whole-heartedly agree with you though is that the lack of Reese figures in the past numbed our critical judgement - we lack comparison and gauging. But you're right, it's difficult to pin point what exactly is wrong with it. One would have to actually take a photo of Michael Biehn and see the differences, but it takes a somewhat artistic, aesthetic fiber I lack.
Now, to be fair, I guess some likenesses are easier to nail than others. Arnold for instance, has a unique, trademark face which must be easier to sculpt. I'd say it's almost caricatural - what I mean is that his traits are very marked and defined. For Biehn, however, the characteristics of his face stem more from an agglomeration of details, in his looks, in the little scar he has on his chin and so on. And this is precisely what T1 hinges on: the opposition between a monolithic, gigantic antagonist and a more weak, sleek - human, simply - figure. And this may be more difficult to get, especially, as someone already said, for a figure this size. Just a wild guess.
