Re: NECA T2 in store pics

:lol Can you not cancel the order with BBTS?

Nah, I won't, just now discovered an email from them. They'll probably ship this week. Maybe series 2 though if it seems to be cheaper from Play. Never used them though, I've heard bad things about the way they package toys.

Re: NECA T2 in store pics

neca;s making a 12 inch battle damaged arnold from series 2, csc has it up for pre-order now.

Re: NECA T2 in store pics

12 inch battle damaged mini-gun T800!!!(with 2 heads)
must buy !

Re: NECA T2 in store pics

Yes its another endo. Not holding my breath on it being 'improved' though. The one in this wave was supposed to be 'improved' and its anything but with that headsculpt.

Where did you get that from. I havent heard about a third figure for Wave 2.

Re: NECA T2 in store pics

When these figures were first announced it was stated there'd be an endo with each series. What wasn't mentioned was a 12" Battle damage figure - thats a new one on me and very exciting.

Re: NECA Terminator 2 figures

If it is indeed possible to acquire the rights for both T1 merchandising and actor likeness rights from same I don't see why theres hesitation. Kyle Reese and T-800 (tech noir and battledamaged) are guaranteed sellers. If I was to be pushy I'd ask for sarah connor but I know no company would go that far. Its not like they choose from any bigger a pool of characters when it comes to making figures from T2 - all you ever get there is T-800 and T-1000, occasionally sarah connor. So it can't be a case of "well its not worth getting the license unless we can get at least such'n such an amount of characters out there".

edit - oh ok I can just see a hole in my own argument - the T1000 alone has good few possibilities for battle-damage variants. But C'MONNN!!! Someone, please please take the plunge and give us some decent T1 figures 25 years on.

Re: NECA T2 T-800 Pescadero Escape review

What exactly is the joint attaching the head to the bodies of these figures that makes them swappable not only between eachother but to also be able to go onto the McFarlane MM4 body? (albeit with bluetack)

I think the main reason is just the lower part of the neck is a soft rubber or plastic w.e, which means the head is easily popped off.

That's my guess from looking at pictures and watching videos though.

Re: NECA T2 in store pics

theres a play usa now too...

There's been one for years, think it was something to do with the government leaning on about something. As you used to be able to get region 1 DVD's through the regular store. So they split it into a seperate business and jacked up all the prices :lol

Re: NECA Terminator 2 figures

The trick is, the T2 license covers likenesses, T1 doesn't, and Playmates isn't the best for sculpts and all, so it's quite possible anything T1 and T2 from them will suck or feature features to go around likeness such as Playmates did originally with Connor in their T:S line. Bale apparently cares enough about how he's portrayed that he worked in a lot of power of approving sculpts of himself in the role and Playmates just finally got him to ok some stuff. Now that I remember the T1 license issues and all, I'm less excited, have to see what Playmates does before getting hyped, could be a bunch of based on T1 kiddy crap not worth your time.

I'm excited about it only in-so-far as it may mark a time where other companies - i.e the ones we're interested in NECA and Hot Toys - will go the distance and do what it takes to acquire all relevant permissions to make T1 toys at long last. We know Playmates are a kiddy company, its in the name. I presume the figures will be alright 'toy' approximations of the actor likenesses and film outfits - if they go and make nothing but Scuba-assault Terminator with giant launching missile arm why call it a figure from The Terminator (1984). But still - I don't want kids toys, I want 7" and 12" NECA figures and Hot toys 1/6ths. I won't be buying any playmates stuff.

Re: NECA Terminator 2 figures

I hope Hot Toys at least goes after T2, since there's no need to get rights outside of the film license, they'd be golden, and I'd really like a nice battle damaged T2 figure since we never got one from SSC, and I'd like a really nice T-800 biker outfit, the SSC one isn't that good and the Saturday Toys one is hard to find.

Re: NECA Terminator 2 figures

Why didn't they make any 'human' T2 figures the first time out when they did the endoskeleton?? Some agreement with Sideshow?

But anyway if NECAs 12" turn out well (pescadero and now battledamaged too apparently) I won't be as annoyed as I otherwise would be if HT do something stupid and don't make any.

My hopes for NECAs 12" - paintjobs more akin to the 2ups they initially displayed - less visible seams - seperate sunglasses on the pescadero version - appropriately sized next to Hoy Toys 1/6ths (which would be smaller than Sideshows slightly too big T2s)

It was a collaboration thing with Sideshow. Hot Toys had the T1 license and rights to do an Endo from that, Sideshow only had the T2 rights, so Hot Toys produced their Endo in T2 packaging with a T2 display base do Sideshow could sell it.

I don't fully get the legals of it all, but even though Hot Toys had rights to make and sell T1 pieces, Sideshow couldn't sell that so the T2 logo use was a work around to allow them a chunk of sales of the HT figure.

Re: NECA Terminator 2 figures

Good toy day for me today - got my 2nd Dutch and my 1st P1 Predator, shipping notice from Sideshow for my 3rd Dutch (and final unless they do a DX) and also got shipping notification from BBTS for these figures - series 1 of course. I should have these sometime next week. This is useless information for anyone else here!!

Re: NECA Terminator 2 figures

Good news a-dev!

I've just placed my order for pescadero and man or machine figures!

*HIGH FIVE!*
