Re: NECA T2 in store pics

My man or Machine and Pescadero arrived before. Absolutely awesome.

I think the Pescadero is one of the best 7" figures, ever. It's amazing, it is simply just a shrunken down version of Arnie with a Shotgun. It's the better figure because it's a leather clad Arnie with a shotgun and sunglasses on *shades* He looks good in any pose you can get him in with the shotgun. Love it.

The Man or machine isn't as good, but it still great. Worth having totally. If not just for the swappable head. It is only really good for one pose, but it does the pose really well! You know the one i'm talking about! The pistol it comes with is really nice too.

I know me and a few others, mainly a-dev, had a few issues with what we saw on the photos of these figures once people started getting them in hand. I think the sunglasses paint & sculpting job on the pescadero being the main issue. Well it did look like what we saw on photos, but not nearly as bad. As ever, the actual item looks better in hand. I think it was more of a case of bad paint apps than bad sculpting.

Whenever I get a new figure, I usually immediately set about it with paint, to touch up any weak spots on the hair, etc. Well on the pescadero I gave the rims of the glasses a bit of black paint, where the flesh was painted, and it looks 100% better. I'm made up, I don't have to worry about it anymore.

I'd suggest to anyone who has it, to paint those rims black!

Also, the endo arm on the Man or Machine figure, it looks like the overly used blood effect can be scraped off fairly easily. Not too easy, but it could be done. Would probably take a long time. But I think you could get rid of most of it to make it look more like the prototype. Which I know you will like to hear, a-dev.

All in all i'm seriously happy with these, especially the Pescadero version. Awesome figure. Can't wait for the next wave, those are gonna kick some serious arse!

Re: NECA T2 in store pics

Congrats. I'm going to try not getting my hopes up to have these on monday because I just hate that sinking feeling of going into work looking for a box and not seeing one.

Anywho, I'll see what painting the sunglasses rims black looks like on one of my Pescadero Termies - its just I had my suspicion that doing that would look no better than the rims being a flesh colour. As for MoM's arm, I'm still thinking of a complete redo from scratch. Its not just the blood I don't like its how the sculpt became simplified with no gaps between the 'metal parts' of the forearm or hand. I think I could bash something better looking together, possibly out of spare McFarlane pieces.

Mmm, I know the feeling!

Honestly mate, it looks miles better. Painting the rims black has just completely eradicated the problem for me. I can look at his head now without thinking, "those glasses are naff!!"

Hmm, that's true. I'm not too bothered about that though.

I just hope its not the case for the "Final battle" version.

I like all the bent&crushed pieces of the BD arm in what we've seen of the prototype pic. I haven't been a long time follower of NECA so the downgrading of not just the paint but the sculpt on the MoM figure's arm came as an unpleasant surprise to me. So I'm worried too that the complex-looking parts of the BD figure will be simplified down for the final release - the 12" shouldn't at least.

Really hope these figures do well enough for NECA that they decide to continue the line. I think CelticP may be right that they'd be unlikely to put out as many T-1000s, otherwise they'd have mixed it up more rather than pumping out 4 of the big man. But of all the possible variations its probably a straight-up undamaged T-1000 I want the most. And Edward Furlong John Connor but that would seem to be less likely.

Re: NECA T2 in store pics

I think there may be a batch of 3 or 4 T-100's to equal all the arnold figs, then maybe a Young Connor or Sarah to equal the endo skeleton - as the one off figure in the line.

I definitely hope they continue the line though, this may be the first ever action figure line i've bought all the figures of! (I'll no doubt end up with the endoskeleton soon!)

The pescadero still amazes me, not stopped looking at it yet.

Re: NECA T2 in store pics

Agreed - what we have in the pescadero figure is what I've wanted since I was a child and all we could get was the made-up crap in the kenner line. My next Terminator figure after those was the MM4 McFarlane which was obviously a huge step up but discovering that the likeness we'd seen in the prototype pics wasn't there was heartbreaking! I remember hoping I'd just found a variant and that the real headsculpt would be in another batch! Of course it never happened.

The other disappointment was that McFarlane obviously never intended to make very many figures with the license. No pristine unbattledamaged T-800 which I always regretted (then again without the likeness there'd hardly have been any point). And their T-1000 seemed like an attempt to put as many possible variations into the one release because they probably weren't planning any more. I hope NECA don't take this approach with the T-1000. I hope we get 4 figures, theres potential for more than that even but I think we're being optmistic as it is.

Re: NECA T2 in store pics

I hope Neca (and Hot Toys) can get the licence to make some T1 stuff. Police Station, Battle Damaged and Tech Noir Termies would be awesome as well as Kyle Reese.

second that! 3 Arnolds from T1 in this quality would be great.

Can someone with all the Endoskeletons in this scale (mcfarland, neca,???) post side by side shots?

Re: NECA T2 in store pics

all my terminator side by side i have only one Endoskeleton.

Re: NECA T2 in store pics

Can't get over how much the figures look and feel like Arnie. F

rom side on especially, the headsculpts are sensational. Look just like him.

The hair is brilliant as well, looks perfect.

Can't wait for the Minigun and Battle damaged versions, those are gonna blow me away I can feel it!

Re: NECA T2 in store pics

I've been lurking on these boards since the HT DX Joker was announced, but finally registered today when I saw this thread.

I have both T-800s, and love them both.

Here are some of my pics. (warning , pic heavy)

I can't wait for series 2 so I can get the other T-800s, and hopefully a T-1000 in the future.

Re: NECA T2 in store pics

I'm fighting a losing battle trying not to get my hopes up that these will be waiting for me in work tomorrow. :monkey2 Its a working day so my package could arrive. Its just its a monday - I rarely receive anything on a monday.

Just lost a what seemed like a HUGE post that I've been writing for ages between annoyingly synchronised customers at work!!!! I don't know what the >>>> happened. Words cannot express the frustration :banghead

Basically, got the figures today they're >>>>ing awesome, paint was the only thing I was worried about it and it turns out they're no worse than what McFarlane did years ago so I'm quite happy. Any issues I have are minor, thrilled to have them, will post pics later and can I say again >>>k >>>k >>>k!!!!! :banghead Trust me my original post didn't have the expletives.

Re: NECA T2 in store pics

OK. Review! Attempt number two.

Pescadero T-800

Flawless figure apart from the flesh colour painted onto the sunglasses rims at the temples. Its much documented by now but (for those just joining!!) it seems rather than adding to the complexibility of the moulding process NECA has not seperated the arms of the sunglasses from the head thus 'spare' plastic in between that they've seen fit to paint the same colour as his skin. It works when you look at the face from below but not so much from the top. But I think I'm going to leave well alone. I'm still not convinced painting this area black will look better - perhaps fractionally on the very outer edge but not the whole thing right up against the face as I can imagine the 'arms' of the sunglasses then appearing ridiculously thick.

So now that the bad is over with - this is Arnie in both head and body. The likeness is there and his particular haircut in T2 is there and nicely detailed at that. I love the spikey hair on top. McFarlane made their figure with his hair too short on top while Sideshow made their 12" with the hair cut in too tight at the back and sides. NECA have it spot-on in this 7" figure (and thus the impending 12" version too). The neck and body proportions are also completely Arnie. I think Tankman noted that the MM4 figure wasn't quite 'built' enough and thats been rectified here.

He has all the articulation he needs. I've read some complaints or suggestions that he should have had more poseability in the legs - I flat out disagree. Its Arnie, not Van Damme. And it would have been very difficult to hide balljoints in those legs and the sculpt would have been compromised. Only cut joints could be disguised and they'd be useless anyway. What he does have is a great range of arm and head movement. 2 of his great iconic gun-toting poses are possible - the 2 handed grip from the mall sequence and the one-handed point&fire that he does in Pescadero. He can't quite pull off the ''emerging from the elevator'' pose. The elbows can't carry off a 45degree angle to hold the shotgun up like that - but I wonder if an arm swap with the MM4 T-800 could help achieve it if anyone wanted to go that far - that figures right arm is perma-sculpted at a tight angle for holding the gun pointed skywards - you'd also need to swap out the hands.

Lastly - finally we have Arnies signature Shotgun from T2 in this scale! I always regretted that McFarlane never provided one even though it wouldn't have been scene accurate to that particular figure.

I'd give Pescadero a solid 9.5/10. Losing out a tad because of the sunglasses issue. However I think its a must for any Terminator fan whether you usually collect this scale or not.

I'll post just this now and get to Man Or Machine later.

I've painted mine black, and don't regret doing so.

Not all the way up to his face however, I have left a small strip of flesh. So kind of painted 3 quarters of the rims black. As you say the glasses might appear to be too thick if it was all black.

However, i'm not convinced on that. I don't think the rims would look too thick, tbh. If I painted that little bit of flesh paint I have left visible, it might even look better.

I wish I had a camera to take pictures and show what I mean, and how much better I think they look.

Anyways, good review, I agree with pretty much all you've said apart form the rims of the glasses situtuation.

I'd give Pescadero arnie 9.5 straight out of the packaging, 10 with the glases paint mod which i've done on mine.

Pleased you recieved the figures today and are happy with them!

Re: NECA T2 in store pics

Thanks Shakey. I've enjoyed talking to you about these figures. We're probably the most consistent participants in the two NECA T2 threads at the moment - a few of the other guys seemed to drop off - I'm surprised Johnny Utah isn't in here every day - he was really excited about these way back when they were announced. I know this is mainly a 1/6th forum but I hope the drop off of posters in here isn't reflective of how well (or not) these figures will do at retail because I really want at least a couple of T-1000s to go with Arnie - at a push I wouldn't mind a Pescadero escape Sarah Connor (as opposed to the usual combat gear one) now that I see how well you could recreate the elevator scene with Arnie here...and of course John Connor. Ed Furlong needs some action figure love for goodness sake, hes the saviour of humanity.

But if its to be limited to about 2 T-1000s (which would be a pity but..) we need one from the mall&Pescadero without battledamage to go with Pescadero Arnie. Then I'd settle for one representing the battledamage he sustains in the Pescadero corridor - shotgun hits, interchangeable normal and hook arms, and a split head (swappable for the undamaged head from the other figure). I don't want another attempt at multiple scenes in one figure like McFarlane did because then it ceases to be completely accurate for any one scene.

Re: NECA T2 in store pics

does the Man or Machine figure come with a knife so we can recreate the scene with Dyson?

Re: NECA T2 in store pics

Yes mate, same here. It's been very enjoyable. I'm just glad there are 2 more Arnies and a few possible T-100's to come, so we can continue talking about them till the early hours!

Yup, I think that too. Maybe people just haven't recieved them yet, and are enjoying our talks about them? :lol I wish.

Well i've been scouring the web for more pictures and reviews of these figures. There is 1 or 2 videos on youtube, the comments on them seem to indicate they will do fairly well at retail. I can't see them flopping.

Definitely agree about the T-100's. I'd say they are pretty much a given. A sarah or john connor would just be icing on the cake.

But if its to be limited to about 2 T-1000s (which would be a pity but..) we need one from the mall&Pescadero without battledamage to go with Pescadero Arnie. Yeah, agreed there. The T-100's for me would have to match up with a specific version of an Arnie figure.

I don't want another attempt at multiple scenes in one figure like McFarlane did because then it ceases to be completely accurate for any one scene.
Agreed with that, as well. I doubt it though, neca will probably give us a few specific scene variations of the T-100 just like they did with Arnie.

Re: NECA T2 in store pics

does the Man or Machine figure come with a knife so we can recreate the scene with Dyson?
No, but i'm thinking of giving him one. The pistol is a nice accessory but not movie accurate :(

In fact, having a knife in his hand isn't movie accurate either, is it? I'm sure after he cuts the flesh off we hear the thud of the knife hitting the floor. He also has nothing in his right hand when he pulls off the flesh.

I think a knife might have been the better accessory but the pistol is OK.
