With swappable hands it's no big deal, just switch them out to the open hands to hold the spear.
But the grips on the net gun and throwing disk make it difficult to have separate hands and weapons. It would be far easier to just sculpt the hands to the weapons and since the weapons would need to come off the costume, you'd have separate versions of these weapons anyways.

All annoying about the hands, but it won't stop me from getting the figure.
These things can be dealt with.

The HT Elder's factory paint just doesn't look as old and weathered as he did in the movie, which you're no doubt planning to fix. I've been thinking about doing the same since I got him, but it'll have to wait for a while. Really looking forward to seeing your finished Elder, quills and all.
On the sculpted hands/weapons issue...
I would also hate like hell to have the weapons sculpted onto hands if that's all there was, but if they were included with sets of open and/or gripping hands and a detachable set of all weapons, then it wouldn't be a problem. The Ancient exclusives came with the spear fixed through the alien head. Still one of my favorite figures, but I really do wish they'd included an extra spear with it!!!

Wow, that was quick! And lookin' very impressive, I might add. Very nice indeed. That's exactly the "aged" look I was referring to earlier. Are you redoing the dreadlocks, too? Looks like you changed the color a bit and added some highlights, but it may just be the lighting. That looks freakin' great Les! Now I want to work on mine more than ever, but... must... be..... patient! NOOOOOOOoooooooo!
