Re: Alien remake/reboot is GO

with ridley back at the helm, maybe we'll finally get a quality alien film once again. about friggin time, too.

frankly, all the recent movies featuring the aliens had kinda turned me off them. if anyone can restore their mythic, iconic status as one of the greatest monsters in film history, i'm confident ridley scott is the man.

Re: Alien remake/reboot is GO

I'd like to state that I don't want a Space Jockey story. For 30 years it's been a mystery. I want it to stay that way.

I want it to stay that way too. I can't really see what Ridley has to gain by directing this. I hope it means the script is amazing and he simply couldn't pass it by. Most of all, I hope they don't start 'reinventing' the look of the Alien.

Re: Alien remake/reboot is GO

I'd like to see amovie where the crew of Serenityrun into th aliens. all those planets they're bound to run into them. on anothe note an alien reboot is totally unwarrented, but a origin story involving the space jockeys with no humans but alien speak with subtitles truly original.

Re: Alien remake/reboot is GO

I don't mind if they show anything about the space jockey. For 30 years its been a mystery.... so I dont mind if I finally get to know something about it. Especially if its Ridley doing it.

30 years is enough mystery I think :)

Re: Alien remake/reboot is GO

I don't agree. I hate it when films ruin mysterious elements like this. For example, one of the cool things about Yoda in ESB is that weird juxtaposition - how can this little creature be a famous Jedi Warrior? When that is left to one's imagination, you have a classic character, full of mystery, and you are left to wonder if his "warrior" strength lay in other areas.

Then they have him bouncing around like a ball with a lightsabre and ruin the whole thing.

This will be the same with the Space Jockey. They should leave it.

Re: Alien remake/reboot is GO

I would agree...but its ^^^^ing Riddles. Anyone else i'd say no, but to him? Show me everything.

Re: Alien remake/reboot is GO

I just don't want to see an Alien "homeworld".

I DO NOT see these things as natural. I've always been of the opinion that they're bioweapons, created by the Jockey species.

But, in that same sense, I DO NOT want to see a Jockey up walking around.

I see that as "part of the ship"...unable to move...grown with the ship itself.
With another, smaller human sized creature as the creators of the Alien weapon and Jockey/Derelict.

Re: Alien remake/reboot is GO

They probably are bio weapons. I wouldnt mind HINTS at the Jockies....but yeah, i dont want walking Jockies. I want a human crew, before the Nostromo.

Re: Alien remake/reboot is GO

Jockeys could be bound to their chairs, but only as specialized navigators, kinda like the Navigators in Dune who were "specialized".
And I agree that the aliens are more interesting as bio-weapons run amuck...

Re: Alien remake/reboot is GO

the term space jockey's is a reference to the creatures who where on the derelict ship, not the actual one we see in the film, it's used because we don't know what else to call them, other than "alien creators" that's sounds oo lame though

Re: Alien remake/reboot is GO

yeah the Space Jockey is an unofficial name given to the race that the creature in the huge chair, the 'big dental patient', belonged to. There was no official name, the only official name is "the Pilot" and that's only in reference to the specific creature they discovered. Space Jockey became a nickname and was eventually used to refer to that creature and its entire race. Although it began unofficially it might as well be the official name now, just like how officially the Aliens are called xenomorphs but we might as well just call them by their nickname, aliens.
