I know I'll probably get hosed for this, but I never liked the direction Aliens took, making them out to be a mindless-hive creature.

I'm with ya. I've come to love Aliens as an action movie but when I first saw it in 1986 I hated it for that exact reason. I felt they pissed away a brilliant creature.

I think Aliens was a fine direction to go...but my issue is the people who took more stuff from that movie, then the first.

I don't mind the Aliens as being hive minded once they're together. But I think people undermine their intelligence.

At least in Aliens they WERE smart. They did do intelligent things.

Unlike AvP-R. Which is just....I don't know what the ____ that was.

If you "like" Alien 3 why did you start bagging on a guy just because he said he liked it? And then pissed all over it? It was over the top and makes 0 sense why you would do that. That is what prompted me to attack Aliens as it can seemingly do no wrong. I wont take your arguments seriously when you ignored my counter scenario proving that the "best" movie in the franchise is just as, if not more flawed as the "worst". Id agree with you that both were flawed given that i did see the end of Aliens and the start of A3 and there is alottttt of unexplained stuff between the movies that sets off A3. But at least i tried to give an example. Well, 2 examples.
Where the hell did the space jockey come from? Where did all their eggs come from?? Alien started with more loose ends than A3 did. But its ok we will bum that because its the first.

You've missed half of what I said and even added a few things that I never said. This all started because of a comment you made about Alien 3, something to the effect of "Alien 3 is the best because the plot didn't fall victim to the same cliche." How could you believe that knowing that start of the film makes no sense?

I wasn't bagging on anyone. The guy gave his reasons why Aliens 3 was great and he then contradicted himself by saying it's a mess. I was just backing up my own argument. It was nothing personal. The fact that I even have to say that is just dumb.

I didn't ignore your counter scenario and I never said Aliens was the best in the franchise. I give reasons why your ideas wouldn't work and I gave an example of how Burke could have done what he did. What more do you want? If anything you ignored my counter and went start to the personal stuff.

And that is the point, Alien 3 is mess right from the start. There are major plot holes that can't be explained no matter how you look at it. Defend it all you want, you will never win because it's hopeless.

The examples you're giving are just no the same. I'm sorry, but they are not. They just don't matter to the overall plot. The egg end up on the ship is the pillar that story is built on. I can't even begin to understand why we are still going back and forth on this.

It's still great. But it's still a mess.

Just because it's messy, doesn't mean it's terrible.

Hot Wings are messy, but they're awesome as hell.

And who cares about the ____ing egg.

It's an Alien. It could do whatever the ____ it wants too. It could sprout wings and fly, if that's what the script needed. The point of the story is Ripley taking on the company, and stopping the Alien once in for all. Not how the egg got into the ship. It's a messy, stupid plot point, created only because no one had a script, or a real fleshed out story.

The entire movie pretty much came out in the editing room. It's also a hundred times better when you put the context of the behind the scenes aspect with the film. That changes films a lot for me.

Yes, FOX needs to spend the money if they want a return on their investment. Hire talented and creative directors. Anything less will clearly be a waste of time has proven time and time again.

I really really really wish with all my will that we got a Good alien vs predator movie with marines,

and a good predator movie about predators killing each other, a war movie between predators. I would die happy id those two happened, which... will never happen...
