Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

But they're making the movie more interesting.

I did indeed love it so. I need to see it again.

Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!

I'm trying to think what was so confusing in the film.

The story was good, and pretty straight forward.

The only thing "confusing" was the life cycle. But it's ____ing Alien black goo. It can do whatever the ____ it wants.

I mean, there's some questions...but nothing that's ruining the film for me.

Alien had unanswered questions. Why can't this one?

Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!

Does anyone else think that the SJs worshipped the Xenomorphs? -as evidenced by the giant Mural in the cannister room?

My take on it is that they are trying to create the perfect organism (the Xeno) and esentially 'stole the fire of the Gods' -the black goo- in an attempt to cultivate and eventually create what they see as perfection.
Obviously this all went pear shaped, which is what lead to all the SJs dying or going into quarantine on the planet for 2000 years...

I think the SJ the Nostromo finds in 'Alien' predates 'Prometheus' by quite a bit... hundreds of years maybe.
I am liking this theory quite a bit. Maybe we were created so that the SJ could impregnate us with the alien goo hence giving birth to Xeno. It makes perfect sense as our DNA is a perfect match with the SJ.

So I guess they weren't trying to destroy us, we are just vessels for the ultimate lifeform.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Once the impact wears off, then the questions will start to plague your mind :D

This is the best part. A film that makes you think about the mysteries.

But they're making the movie more interesting.

Glad you liked it! :rock

Did Lar'ja Thwei end up seeing this then?

Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!

:exactly:Sounds bang on. I'll be seeing the movie a second time this weekend, so I may pick up on things I originally missed. What really dissapoints me and confuses me is that the planet in Prometheus isn't the same planet in ALIEN. Would make perfect sense. Not sure why Ridley Scott would do that.

Secret agenda:wink1:

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

If I'm still thinking about a movie day's after seeing it, then it must be special.

:goodpost:

I'm still thinking about it too!

I saw it last Sunday and I'm still thinking about it and thinking about wanting to see it again.:yess:

Exactly, this is the kind of film which warrants a second viewing.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

You know, i'm thinking about why people think this movie is so ____ing godawful, and is the worst thing ever made by a human....

I can understand disappointment...but come the hell on.

AvPGalaxy can suck it.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

:goodpost::exactly::cuckoo:I mean, it's ok to be dissapointed, but in no means is it a terrible film

Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!

Anyway, things I loved so much.

I loved the little nods, first off. Like the

alien010.jpg

When they're about the crash Prometheus into the ship :D

And I kept seeing the Face on everything...on little computers, and statues. I wonder if I was crazy, or just seeing things.

It was right before Shaw entered the room with Weyland. It's right on that little panel behind her. Someone look!

The birth scene, the first one...was just so perfect. I was cringing, and smiling at the same time. THAT is what I wanted to see from an Alien movie. Disgusting, creepy, disturbing, viseral stuff that hasn't been in the series since Alien.

I got a huge kick out of seeing the Space Jockey on screen. Especially when he got his chair out. Every Alien fan watching that got excited. Even if you hated the movie. You know you wanted to see that ____ing thing.

Loved seeing the ship.

And the ending scene was perfect. And the little Xeno was great.

But yeah, real stuff. I had no problems with logic, I guess because since I love Sci-Fi I really don't need everything explained in super detail. I mean, for the all the unanswered questions Prometheus had, Alien had just as many.

Which is why I'm having a hard time seeing how the script was "the worst thing ever" and how the movie made "no sense".

It did make sense. But a lot was left ambiguous. And so what? It makes it more interesting.

Was Vickers a robot? She had a surgical device that wasn't built for a woman....she called Weyland, father...does that mean she was Weyland's daughter? Or a creation? David called Vickers, mother....

What is the biological makings of the goo? Is it a weapon that mutates all lifeforms into something more evolved?

Was David told to infect Halloway? Or did he do it because he could? Or because he wanted to see what happens?

And did anyone really look at the mural? It looked like a squid like creature, with a Xeno underneath it.

Could these all be different creatures that can be created with this goo?

Honestly, none of this stuff are things that frustrate me. They just intrigue me. And I like that.

This is one of the best Science Fiction films of the last 12 years. Next to District 9.

It had a bit of everything.

And it looked fantastic. I could find flaws maybe. But eh. I'm too happy about the out come.
