Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!

LOVED the movie! My one main question is why create, then try to kill everything on earth?

The ending was horrid though. The Space Jokey should have died in the cockpit of the now derelict ship (ala ALIEN). It should have also been much larger in stature.

Nice seeing the "QUEEN-MOTHER", royal jelly & "Queen FACEHUGGER" on screen though. They have been "non-cannon for too long.
The space ship and jockey in this film are NOT the same ones from ALIEN. it's not even the same planet.

Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!

i really hope Promethius II: secret of the ooze gets greenlit. Apparently it did good on midnight screening here in the US.

Thats really the only part of the movie that "kind" of bugs me, but i love the movie its just a nit pick. They could of lined things up with Alien almost flawlesly but because of a few holes they set it on a diff planet it feels like. I completely understand how its a spinoff/prequel/w.e but i think they could of done that. while making it its own.

I didnt know it was a diff planet until after i saw the movie and came on here.

Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!

Overall, I really enjoyed the film. Visually, it was absolutely breath-taking ofcourse, but visuals alone can't hold a movie together. Thankfully the story was very interesting, and much deeper than I imagined for something in the Alien Universe.

Few points:
-the only scene that I absolutely hated was the Hammerpede scene. Whatever the biologist's name was that kept thinking the thing was cute... seriously??! You are on a planet light years from Earth, and you come across the first instance of life outside of Earth, and you think it's cute? And then when it opens up to reveal it's mouth, you think it's even cuter? Hasn't the guy seen Jurassic Park and what happens to Dennis Nedry??

-With respect to the Captain and how he was acting when he saw on the monitors all the dead Engineers... at first I thought it was really weird. But I was thinking that maybe at first he just didn't care because as he said "he's just the Captain". I think up until that scene, he didn't care what they would find, but then as he sees the image on the screen of all the Engineers dead, maybe he starts to realize that there may be a threat here, which is the start of where his character goes later.

-LOVED the C-section scene!

-Thought the creatures were too squid-like, but it didn't bother me too much since the story was so interesting

-The scene with David in the cockpit for the first time was absolutely gorgeous. The visuals were insane and in 3D IMAX (even though i hate 3D) just looked perfect. I almost wish that scene itself was 5 minutes longer.

-Still don't understand the deal with the goo. What is the purpose? To wipe out the humans? And still not clear on why the Engineers created us, only to destroy us later (although I like Celtic's theory on us being hosts to create the perfect organism). However, it doesn't make sense that there will be cave paintings leading us to their "weapons facility" when they were planning on coming to Earth anyway to wipe us out.

-Thought the Captain coming up with the whole "weapons facility" and it's not their home planet thing came completely out of the blue... almost like there was a scene deleted. Very cool idea, but how did he come up with it so quickly? He saw the zombie dude (cool scene but seemed to go nowhere) and then immediately figured out that (a) this was a weapons facility, and (b) we are not on the Engineers homeworld??

-The "here's why we are here" scene right after everyone is woke up was waaay to much like AvP, which was bothersome. Alien score there was cool, but just felt a bit forced.

-Very nice observation by Celtic on how Charlize's medical table was not built for a woman...

Overall, loved it, and I am definitely with Sabres and Celtic, I much preferred this ending to if it ended with the Space Jockey from Alien and the chest burster. If it ended that way, there would be no discussion. Just like with Inception. If the token stopped spinning, or kept on spinning forever, you would know if DiCaprio was dreaming or not, and the discussion would be over.

Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!

I thought the beginning looked like we were an accident from that engineers DNA that hit water and we just sota happened. From the fact they were taking "WMD's" back to earth and seeing the engineers reaction at seeing the mistakes in front of him, I also just assumed he was on a mission to "fix" the mistake. :dunno

Thank GOD for you! :1-1:
Makes sense, so now I can sleep a little easier tonight.

The space ship and jockey in this film are NOT the same ones from ALIEN. it's not even the same planet.

Hmm, well the ship crashed in a similar position.
There's the distress/ warning transmission like in ALIEN.
The Mother Alien is a good example as to why there are all those eggs in ALIEN.
Lastly, if it's another ship/planet entirely, then the engineers are some of the most sloppy/clumsy bio-hazard transporters EVER! Not to mention that both engineer pilots get "chest-busted". :gah:

Again, I loved the movie, but the ending.... could have been better IMO.

Oh, and blackmask... Thanks, I like the image. *saved*

The planet (or rather moon) in Prometheus is L.V. 223. whereas the one in ALIEN is L.V. 426. The ships crashed position in ALIEN is far more upright. As for the other stuff, that's what the potential sequels could delve into :)

I got chills once I realized what the giant tentacle monster was. I turned to my friend and went "oh ____!" :lol

Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!

Just saw the movie in 3D really really liked it. Favorite character was milburn now if only i knew where to buy eyeglasses that had awesome frames likes like his

Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!

I liked the Captain, really wish there was more time to develop the characters or see more of him. I'm hoping for a much longer directors cut on BR, because to me the movie felt rushed in several places.

Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!

Saw the movie in 2D and I'll likely see it once or twice more in 3D. Loved every minute of it and I absolutely NEED a 1/6 Engineer from Hot Toys.

I kind of felt bad for the people who haven't seen the first film, though. The movie does make sense on its own, but there are so many disturbing, twisted images in it that someone who isn't familiar with the franchise would likely respond to with "WTF!?"
Eh. Their loss, not mine.

They wanted to use us to create these creatures. Or use us as incubators. It's up to you to decide. But there was enough evidence to allow you to make up your mind.

And their 'creation' ended up turning on them. Just goes to show you the Alien we know and love is really an abomination, a combination that was never meant to happen. But it did, and so we have the hellish, incredibly resilient 'perfect organism' that made Ridley Scott's first movie famous. Not to bring religion into this, but you could certainly make that connection, too. Even with a scientific origin story, humanity's makers could still very well be cruel (though for what reason, we don't know).

I still can't believe people still thought it was going to end where Alien began. Scott said it wouldn't. He may have been ambiguous about the connection, but he always stated it was not on LV-426.

No. The Alien is the perfect organism. And is only created by using US.

That's what I said. But the Alien we know (the prototype for which we saw at the end of the movie) couldn't have been possible without the Engineer. I think their initial plans were to just turn us into superhuman mutants so we could either kill eachother or impregnate eachother to spawn facehuggers that would then lead to the birth of some other purely-human monster.

And it wasn't. LV-223. I'm excited and hope we see one or two sequels. There's definitely more evolution and adaptation to be seen until the creature becomes the one we're familiar with, but I thought this was an excellent start.

Oh, the possibilities with this franchise now...

lol you are lucky people know this is related to Alien at all, a lot of people at work thought this was going to be like Immortals but in "space" for some reason from the trailers alone,
and even if people know this is connected to alien there is going to be a lot of people that are going to think this is a prequel, some people are careless

Yeah. It's the proto Xeno.

But it still needs a human for it to work. I think that's why we were created. Not sure if I buy the whole "creation turned against us" unless Scott says so. I mean, aside from the possible Jesus connection, (Jesus was a Jockey! A cut scene, or not written), I'm gonna believe that.

Just like the characters in the film. :D

That was the point though. The fans get to see a prequel, normal people see an original movie.

Re: Prometheus Q&A (SPOILERS)

What the hell is Life of Pi, and why the ____ was it in front of this movie? Who thought that would be a good idea.

Nothing gets you in the mood for a Alien film like a short about a ____ing tiger and flying fish....

I don't even know why it was there. That was more confusing then anything in the film.

Yes, The Life Of Pi is a upcoming movie based on the novel of the same name. Apparently their advertising involves confusion........
