Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!

:slap i hate those movies. Watch movie for story and fun, if i have to imagine everything why the **** do i even watch it. There is a big difference between movies that provoke your thoughts and a dumb movie that are forced to be vague and made no sense.

It really makes you appreciate joss whedon & steven spielberg's work, they can have as many vague plots & mysteries, but at the end everything ALWAYS tie back together with a satisfying ending. Of course none of them uses that Lost writer for the script...

Well, that's your fault.

I love movies like this, and movies like that. Alien had a ton of unanswered questions, people forget. But no one cares.

Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!

First hour of this movie was the most riveting experience I've had in many years. It was the second half, where the 'alien' stuff came about, that became more uncohesive for me. It takes getting your head around somewhat. Part of that is trying to understand it all clearly.

it's fine to have unanswered questions, but alien had a clean plot, story, progression and also a great ending. This movie is just all vague mess that never went anywhere. Like i said, scientists want answers from alien creator, flys to the planet, meet creator, dies in 30 sec without a word, the end. It could be summarized into a 5 min trailer.

yeah i was really excited up to the part where the 2 scientists got killed, they build it up very well up until then. But when you are expecting the movie to finally take off, instead it falls off a cliff as a confusing mess.

I remember well. Took time to sort out the space jockey, etc. That's why it is so difficult to allow for new aspects to a cohesive understanding. It's like a religion finding new information. Takes time to absorb.

Key ideas: 'the son destroys the father' and 'sometimes you have to destroy life to create life' -- both are clearly evident in the final battle, but the strings of these ideas are woven throughout.

Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!

:lol:clap

You got me there....Haha.

And yeah, i'm totally making this up. This is what the filmmakers intended. This isn't like Star Wars where George intended nothing. Ridley wants us to talk, discuss, even debate.

How many Sci-Fi movies in the last few years have done this?

I'm totally down for that sort of thing, i don't mind ambiguity in my movies, as this thread has demonstrated ambiguity can lead to some pretty interesting debates.

Its just that movies like prometheus make me feel like i have to come up with half of the plot myself, might as well make my own damn movie, but i'm all ears for peoples theories and opinions on it and i certainly don't mind people correcting me about things i don't get, it just grates me when people treat me like an idiot because i ask questions, IMO asking questions shows that you're willing to make the effort to understand better.

But enough of this, i still enjoyed the film overall and it was one of the better sci-fi films of late, that we can agree on.

Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!

I still believe that if this film had ended with a scene showing the Space Jockey from Alien being chestbursted and the ship crashing on LV-426 more people would be loving this film and any issues they had with the film wouldn't be as important.

Asking questions makes you NOT an idiot with this movie.

Because it allows for the debate. Bring it, any issues you have. Lets break them down. But in a good way. :lecture

Prometheus Q&A (SPOILERS)

I realize that after seeing the movie there are some questions that need to be answered. Please post them here.

Re: Prometheus Q&A (SPOILERS)

another Prometheus thread seriously? what the F___ this is the 4th Thread! This movie might be good but 4 Threads? WTF?

Re: Prometheus Q&A (SPOILERS)

Even if a sequel is not greenlite or confirmed, does ridley have plans do another film? is he attached also?

We don't have any information regarding a sequal yet. Techinally, Alien (1979) was the sequal untill Ridley Scott decided to make it a independent film. There is still potential, however, in Elizabeth's journeys to find the engineer's home world.

Re: Prometheus Q&A (SPOILERS)

Why exactly did david infect holloway? was that what weyland meant with ''try harder''?

Yes, David intentionally infected Holloway to further investigate the substance's abilities and to please Weyland. Also notice that before he infects Holloway, he asks him what he would do to get answers, to which he answers "Everything and anything". David beleived that "Anything" could mean being infected by the black substance.
