Re: Prometheus Q&A (SPOILERS)

Touche. And here I thought you were going to say that English wasn't your first language.

I am way to sober for this thread....I know everyone's busting Xenomorphian's Xenoballs, but this thread is pretty cool

No ball-busting; not serious anyway. The tone of a post can be misinterpreted. But he said to ask questions, so I'm just asking. And it's "morhpian"...not the more suspected "morphian".

Is resurrected Fifeld technically a 'zombie'?

Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!

i always thought that the final mutated fifield ended up as a killing machine zombie mofo....the "final solution" from the engineers

what happened with holloway was a fluke, the goo infection wasnt that severe he had time to shag noomi.

too many plot holes to be discussed the but biggest WTF for me was noomi's reaction at the end...

knowing the bible and anything associated with religion was BS and all and still kept the faith.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Well, saw it tonight, won't see it again til it hits on Blu Ray. It was okay, but ranks below Alien/Aliens with the other movies of the franchise. This really seemed like a patchwork quilt of a movie, I guess maybe I expected more considering the cast and director involved. :dunno

This is my general feeling towards this as well. After all these years, we finally get another Alien movie...

...and its on par with Resurrection and the AvPs... :( :slap :thud:

Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!

Saw the midnight showing, and in all honesty, while the film wasnt bad, it was not a great film, or even a really good one. WAY too many plot holes, "lapses of logic", and characters shifting. it felt like something from Paul Anderson and not Ridley Scott.

Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!

Turn us into superhuman mutants so we could impregnate each other to spawn facehuggers that would lead to the birth of some other purely-human monster.

:lol

Oh, the possibilities with this franchise now...

I know, isn't it great? An Alien movie you can walk out of and actually have intelligent debates and speculations over.
Roger Ebert loved it and took it as an original film while acknowleding its Alien connections, which is what you should do. I was well-aware of what it would eventually lead up to, yet I expected it to do its own thing to get to that final point. The real victims of the film are those who convinced themselves this was a 100% direct prequel to Alien with no loose ends nor ambiguity. They expected a clone of the first film. Same style, same kind of suspense, same vibe, same everything. But then, what fun would that be? Hell, the people who've never even seen Alien had a better shot at enjoying it than those guys.

Yeah. It's the proto Xeno.

But it still needs a human for it to work. I think that's why we were created. Not sure if I buy the whole "creation turned against us" unless Scott says so. I mean, aside from the possible Jesus connection, (Jesus was a Jockey! A cut scene, or not written), I'm gonna believe that.

Just like the characters in the film. :D

I'm not so sure the Engineers were evil enough to create us as hosts/means to create the Xenomorphs. After all, if they were so advanced that they could make us, what kept them from just building the Xenos from the start? I get what you're saying, but sacrificing yourself to create one species, to then create another? Seems inefficient. My friends and I were toying with the notion that the Engineer at the very beginning of the movie had an important role, one much more critical than Prometheus let on. He could've been an outcast or exile, perhaps. Maybe whatever he did or decided led him to be banished to Earth, and so he created... OH, BRAIN BLAST! THE FALL! It has to be. There's definitely a biblical allusion here and that's it. Adam and Eve ate the apple and so were sent to Earth, where they gave rise to mankind. Huh? Huh? That Engineer probably did something to set him apart from the others, which is why they left him there to bring about the start of humanity. But his people probably weren't happy about what that meant.

I had to misspell my name due to the correctly spelled name being in use already. Fifeld can be referred to as a "zombie", but it was not clear what the substance actually did to him. The strange thing about it Is that when taken by one of the engineers, it deconstructs DNA, but when taken by a human it has different effects. The Fifeld scene was one of the more "distant" scenes in the move. It didn't quite seem to have much to do with the actual plot.

Re: Prometheus Q&A (SPOILERS)

I think that bothered me more than anything else -- the different results.

It seem to do to Halloway what it did to the first engineer (breaking down the DNA)... but Fifeld got a completely different result (zombified). I've also learned about the original scene -- where he transformed -- which might have made more sense.

Celtic and I went back and forth on whether he was actually dead or not, so maybe that has something to do with it. Maybe it deconstructs living molecules, but resurrects dead ones. :dunno

I have a love-hate thing with the Fifeld Zombie.

Re: Prometheus Q&A (SPOILERS)

are you even sure if that was the same goo at the beginning of the movie?

Re: Prometheus Q&A (SPOILERS)

IMO, holloway will eventually get to fifield's stage of mutation, zombie mode. holloway's goo infection was so tiny he had time to shag.

there wont be time for shagging in fifield's state.

Re: Prometheus Q&A (SPOILERS)

If there's multiple black goos, then we have a real problem.

i thought the black goo was EXPERIMENTAL...done far from their home planet for precautions.

how do you interpret the intro? a sacrifice or a suicide?

Re: Prometheus Q&A (SPOILERS)

I don't know. The original storyboard would make one believe it was a sacrifice (with the old man assisting), which is also what Ridley speaks of. But in the final film, it is left a deliberate mystery.

Experimental goo? I don't know, isn't goo goo? You just 'experiment' with it in different ways. But if it is ingested by two similar hosts, you would expect the same result... not two different ones. If you can't replicate the outcome of your experiments then you have no control over your substance, and unpredictability isn't a very good superweapon.

It seemed to have slightly simmalar results(e.g. Black veins along neck and temples) Bit it could be a different substance.

Re: Prometheus Q&A (SPOILERS)

I saw the beginning as a sacrifice to create life on Earth, but maybe that was his sentence for some wrongdoing and the other engineers were just using him for an experiment as with the alien DNA.

Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!

Amazing film.

I am having a blast reading the theories and speculating on my own.

I'm sure the DVD release will answer a lot of questions with crew/cast and more importantly Ridley interviews, maybe even a director's commentary? Hopefully a director's cut as well.

Looking forward to a sequel by Ridley...seems promising.

Re: Prometheus SUPER Spoilers!

IMO, that intro is open to a lot of interpretations....

if that engineer did that thing in open land... it would just turn to dust. was it coincidence they landed or left him there near the waterfalls?

was that planned or was it just an accident? that scene alone was a WTF

The dilution of the substance could be the result of the alcohol as well as the small dosage.
