I just saw the movie yesterday and while it was pretty damn awesome, it certainly left a lot of room open for thought!


BTW, I too have been reading the posts of Xenomorphian in David's voice

lol you are lucky people know this is related to Alien at all, a lot of people at work thought this was going to be like Immortals but in "space" for some reason from the trailers alone,
and even if people know this is connected to alien there is going to be a lot of people that are going to think this is a prequel, some people are careless

Well, I went into this with ZERO spoilers except for 2 trailers.
The fact that it wasn't even LV426 completely eluded me until I came here. The movie is already confusing, but for those who couldn't be bothered following with Scott's "tweets".... it's more than confusing.

I'd really like to know what the engineers were running from in the holograms. Also, why was the pilot the only one to survive? Was he infected? The room was locked from the outside. Surely he could have flown to earth rather than go into hibernation. Furthermore, was he locked into a room with all the goo canisters? WTF?
Even my girlfriend paused to ask me, "what happened to the other aliens who locked themselves into the room with the severed [Space Jokey] head"?

The beginning:

Genesis 1:27 "So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them;"

I see that in the transfer of the engineer's DNA to create life on earth and also when they find that the engineer/human DNA is a match. This is a very loose connection to the creation story in the Bible obviously, because there is no sacrifice of life by God to create humans if you believe the Biblical account.

LOVED the movie! My one main question is why create, then try to kill everything on earth?

The ending was horrid though. The Space Jokey should have died in the cockpit of the now derelict ship (ala ALIEN). It should have also been much larger in stature.

Nice seeing the "QUEEN-MOTHER", royal jelly & "Queen FACEHUGGER" on screen though. They have been "non-cannon for too long.

Can someone please explain why the alien did not die in the space jockey? I was expecting him to end up in it and then have the chestburster come out....not sure why it would not end that way.

It was the same planet and ship, right???

I will say that I was VERY impressed overall! It exceeded my expectations by far and was very intense! Great movie and a must see!

@FACEBOX: Whoa, there. I wouldn't go as far as to say that the Queen Mother, Queen Facehugger, and Royal Jelly were made cannon. They really weren't. That weird tentacle creature was a prototype facehugger and the resulting chestburster a prototype Xenomorph (it will take a sequel or two, plus some adaptation/evolution/etc. to turn into the Giger creature we all know). And that stuff wasn't Royal Jelly. It was some kind of fluid that was responsible for creating life (by destruction first)... or transforming one thing into another, something along those lines. This film had nothing to do with the Queen and she was never even a part of the initial life cycle (as proved in the director's cut of the first movie).

This is my general feeling towards this as well. After all these years, we finally get another Alien movie...

...and its on par with Resurrection and the AvPs...

Not an Alien movie. You guys really should've listened to Ridley. He said this wasn't a direct prequel what, like seven times? However many it was, that statement popped up everywhere.

Ok, question, the medical table That Noomi Rapace uses to cut out her 'baby' and the thing said it was designed with male patients - ah, wasn't that Theron's lab table? Did I miss something there?

That was Peter Weyland's table, not Vicker's, she lied when she said it was her's

Watched tonight. My only two question are:
1. Why Guy Pierce plays an old guy. They can't find an old actor or what?
2. What is Charlize doing in the movie? Walking around and just to be in there. Other actress will do just fine for that role. Don't get me wrong, I love Charlize and love her movies.

The whole point of that scene is to show how life began on Earth and how the Space Jockey's influenced the creation of humans. If not, and if that actually takes place on some other planet then that's just terrible writing. Period.

And in case anyone missed this gem from that same interview: Talk about some ass backwards, tinfoil hat type of ish.. smh.

Movies.com: We had heard it was scripted that the Engineers were targeting our planet for destruction because we had crucified one of their representatives, and that Jesus Christ might have been an alien. Was that ever considered?

Ridley Scott: We definitely did, and then we thought it was a little too on the nose. But if you look at it as an “our children are misbehaving down there” scenario, there are moments where it looks like we've gone out of control, running around with armor and skirts, which of course would be the Roman Empire. And they were given a long run. A thousand years before their disintegration actually started to happen. And you can say, "Let's send down one more of our emissaries to see if he can stop it." Guess what? They crucified him.

Pure and utter garbage.

I'm not religious by any stretch of the imagination but seriously.. this is just pathetic. The event that happened 2000 years ago that prompted the "Engineers" to wanna wipe out humanity was the crucifixion of Jesus Christ who was a big ass 8 ft. tall, bald, Space Jockey!?

And on a side note, it's funny to see CelticP defending this movie and Ridley Scott. Not that it's surprising.. but still amusing.
