Weirdly, i actually felt quite good reading that. Purely because its good to see Scott standing by is guns and trying to make it a proper horror film. Studios seem determined to dumb everything down to make it appeal to everyone. I'd love to see Ridley Scott make this film, but if the studio are gonna mess it up then i'd rather it not get made at all.

agreed. FOX is trying to make another AVP-level juvenile piece of ____ and Scott told them where they can shove it. what sucks is there is nothing stopping another hack like Paul Anderson from just taking the script and making another turd with Scott's work. i'd rather not have a prequel than see the franchise be even more degraded by dip____s.

Exactly. FOX clearly dont get Alien. It should be a dark, nasty horror film. FOX see's it as just a franchise to try and market to as many people as possible by making a 15-rated "safe" movie to make money from teenagers looking for a weekend flick. If this goes ahead as FOX wants i get the feeling it will be no better than AvP, and will do nothing but further damage this once great series of films.

That was my first thought after reading the blurb.

Can you imagine Alien with a 250 million dollar budget, Rated R, and directed by Scott???? It would be the greatest thing EVER.

If they dumb this new film/s down ridley won't be on board and reckon he'll stand his ground on this as the franchise has taken too much flack with alien 3 avp and that abismal pile avp- arrrrrrrrrrrrrrghhhhh.
The studio could go with another director but don't think they will as ridley will be a big coo to get on board, as would getting giger involved again.
If it does get made without the 2 formentioned we should just boycott it.
Seems thats all the studios listin to and hits them where it hurts.

What the hell, 15-rating to maximize audience appeal? Heh, if anything, it'll minimize it -- which is EXACTLY what happened with AVP. I like FOX's movies, but the fact that they haven't learned squat with the past films just blows me away. Bunch of morons, the lot of them. Ridley can do whatever he damn well pleases AT an R-level, thank you very F'ing much. I don't get it. What's FOX after? A weekend teen flick, or another masterpiece? Anyone in their right mind would go for the latter.

I'm all in favor of a boycott. There's no reason for FOX's stupidity and obliviousness to the past six years to prevail, giving us yet another crappy movie. If not us, then I hope Ridley gives them what for. I'd say $250 million is well worth finally getting a film that can proudly stand with the originals, rather than a film that merely floats among the dung pile formed by the more recent movies.



...and I'm surprised they consider Alien 3 to have a 15-rating. It had way more language and gore than Aliens, or even Alien for that matter.

I actually agree. Alien 3 was pretty good. Resurrection was the iffy one of the bunch. The others, perfect. They all had different feels, different production designs, and different color palettes . It's like... green, blue, and orange. Then Resurrection is back to green. *scoffs*

...I have such a weird way of judging movies.
