Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

No, they just cut to them taking off in the Space Jockey ship. I assume Noomi dragged him to it and they got in the ship. It just wasn't shown on screen.

Thanks. I think Ridley's gonna get another $6.50 from me before I eventually buy the dvd.:lol

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

Saw it today. I really liked it. Not Aliens good, but good none the less. I don't understand how people are saying this doesn't tie in to Alien. It did to me, but then, I don't study movies like some do so I don't know fine details. I just enjoy them for what they are.

Prometheus does indeed tie into the Alien franchise. I am not sure why the production crew was so adamant that it DIDNT, but it does and telling me to believe otherwise flies in the face of what we actually see onscreen. Fans are by and large not stupid creatures, so please don't treat me as if I am, Ridley Scott. I know what I see.

I saw this movie and was very confused. Is this movie base on aliens or about how humans began on earth? I walked out half way it was just way too slow moving and confusing for me. So at the end of the movie did aliens show up?

Only one, and he came out of hypersleep in a very bad mood indeed. I felt that the alien was COMPLETELY WASTED. Here is this incredible, strong, obviously intelligent creature and the filmmakers completely threw him away.

Not to mention how he gets from piloting the alien ship which explodes and crashes, then SHAZAAM he's on Vicker's lifepod. Wha...............? He must know magic.

I think there's a lot of truth to someone else's comment that this was treated like "Lost" .... but this is a film, not a weekly serial. For serials we can tune in next week, but to have a feature film which has NO RESOLUTION and expect people to wait a few *years* to find out more is just bogus. Makes me feel like "my questions will never be answered, just teased endlessly.... meh, I have other things to do."

That's exactly how I felt about "Lost" and why I stopped watching after a few episodes.

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

They never said it wasn't a part of the Alien franchise, just that it wasn't a direct prequel to Alien.
And it's not.

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

I'm confused. :lol

All the ships are similar no? So, Shaw and David take another ship one that doesn't need repaired, but looks identical to the ship that gets taken out by Prometheus and the one that crash lands on the planet in Alien.

Anything is possible, would make no sense why the ship they took had a jockey killed by a chestburster tho' :dunno

Maybe it was another Jockey in hypersleep that wakes up and get's infected like to the biologist chap in this film.

I dunno, just brainstorming. Hope Ridley does the sequel to this though, he really got me introduced to something awesome here.

Theres only just over 20 years difference in the two movies timelines. The Alien (movie) body was fossilized as well. ie, he died out with most of his race over 2000 years ago. Again, different ships.

I know they are different ships, the sequel will probably explain all of this, if the Space Jockies were on the moon (in Prometheus) who says Xeono's didn't already exist there? Judging by these pics:

It seems the Xeno's have been around for a while, maybe the ship they took had an old Space Jokey, in which the face hugging has already happened?

The last 20 minutes has the most insane war between engineers and aliens the world has ever seen. Man, you should have stayed.

:D

Before the 2nd ship takes off there is a scene if them driving one if the smell vehicles to a 2nd mound. So that would suggest they just rolled on over to the next one.

Yeah, the ship would have had to have already had a dead pilot they couldn't remove. Plausible if we're going to assume there were different xeno forms on the panetoid rather then just head bursters. probably why they purposely didn't show the xeno chasing the engineers on the hologram. I would guess every engineer died 2000 years ago or went into hiding. Just can't imagine theres many of them left after they so colossally failed to keep their experiments on a leash.

I love how these ships that have laid dormant for thousands of years just start up and take off with no problem. No oil change or point checks needed. :yess:

Oh and Shaw looked better in her undies than no ass Ripley.

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

Yet "Prometheus" will never lead to the 1979 movie.
One franchise but different universes.

You realize though that 99% of the people who saw Prometheus this weekend never heard or read about Ridley Scott saying this and view Prometheus as a prequel. And that's no crime. What else were they supposed to think?

In fact I bet 70% of those people don't even know who Ridley Scott is! :lol
