No. Alien 3 got a ton of flack, Aliens got some flack, i'm sure.

I'm just frustrated with the AvP was better, talk.
I get people are disappointed. I do. I'm not going to attack them for it because the movie did that enough to them.

But regardless....this was better then AvP. I'm sorry, but it was. Even it, at least it's visual, design, and filmmaking department.

It'd be silly to call it a plot hole because that's not what a plot hole is.
It's a (in my opinion) poor design or casting decision.

Also, just because life expectancy goes up doesn't affect anything. It's not about whether someone that old would act or look like that in the future. It's about the audience perception of how effective it is. Effects and things like this should be invisible when done right. People shouldn't notice it at all. If you didn't, that is wonderful. Obviously some people did. No big whoop.

I suppose other people might be bashing it for this, but I'm not. It's just an unnecessary distraction. But, like I said I wonder if Scott had originally planned to feature young Weyland more, which would at least be a reason for casting a young actor to play old. As I've said over and over it didn't affect my enjoyment, I just thought it was an odd decision the way it played out in the movie we saw.

If people didn't know it was an actor in make-up before the film's release would they have noticed it or just thought it was an old man...

Now that would have been something! He probably isn't much of an actor, but I'd love to see another actor channel him.

I'm not even gonna read back through this thread to see if there are in fact nutjobs who claim AvP is better than Prometheus. I was disappointed by the writing, but only because I went in with pretty high expectations. The character development and some of the plot points were poor, but only by Scott's lofty standards.

Comparing the two is like saying that a top-of-the-line Toyota is better than a bottom-of-the-line Rolls Royce.

Saw this today. I went in without spoilers and was pretty optimistic. Sad to say, I wasn't impressed. I didn't like any of the characters except David and maybe Weyland. I get the messages the film was trying to express and some scenes were pretty cool but, eh this film wasn't for me.

Disappointed. Doesn't come close to Alien or Aliens.

Brilliant film- the most majestic space scenes done in a long long time. Just spectacular in scope and design...and yes I enjoyed the characters and story- not everything in a movie has to be clearly explained. Last 1/3 highly intense full of great shocks.
My only real issue is the last scene- it was clearly put in there to satisfy those distraught over the connection to Alien. Wish Ridley could remove it.

Whether the scene was put in there for that reason or not..why wouldn't you enjoy it? Cool new Alien creature with one of the best chestbursting scenes we've ever had.
