Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Yeah, it's definitely one of the best creature designs and they pulled it off perfectly. You believe the Alien Queen is a real living and breathing creature when you watch the film. That's something that is rarely if ever seen anymore. I'd love to see more films done with creature effects like Pumpkinhead, the original The Thing, and Aliens these days.

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

If we see any of Giger's art, i'm guessing it will be very dumbed down/simplified like it was in Prometheus.

It's like they had to split the "biomechanical" aspect in half. Making the ship, and other structures all mechanical..but making the creatures all..biological.

The SJ suit looked like a great blend between the two though, imo.

Didn't think many of those concept designs were too great. I would have liked to see a mixture of the Fifield we got, and this concept art though.

The Queen will never be matched for the raw power of her design, and for the fear she invokes. This is a truly *terrifying* being. That is what makes her wonderful.

2. Respect is earned. People can earn mine by not resorting to non-answers such as .gifs, personal insults or "I'm wrong because I say you are wrong."
I never, ever, said anything like that. Never.

I gave reasons as to why you were wrong..and you continued to say basically the same thing over and over, accuse everyone of insulting you while you were actually insulting me... :cuckoo: I don't think I ever insulted you in the first place, though.

You even eventully said somthing that contradicted your entire argument..that's why I posted the Homer Simpson "Doh!" image. :slap

Just let it go ffs...

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I never thought the Queen could be compared to the dinosaurs in Jurrasic Park, or definitely the original Predator in terms of how realistic they appeared.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Saw it. It was cool enough, but easily forgettable and will not be Alien canon for me. The mystique of the first film will stay intact in my mind, this movie felt too much like fan fiction or SW EU.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

The Queen is up there in my top 3 movie monsters ever with the Predator and Stan Winston's T-Rex.

Love the Queen myself, I just wish she only had 2 arms.

Definitely part of the reason she evokes such realism, power, etc... was because she was a puppet. I can't imagine being nearly as impressive as a CGI character.

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

Question: Can the Engineers breathe fine on LV 223?

I assume the Engineer that chased after Dr. Shaw walked to the lifeboat with no breathing apparatus. So either his lungs could tolerate the air and/or he held his breath and his skin was resistant to the atmosphere temperatures, pressure, etc.

I ask because inside the Engineer's facility it had breathable Earth like air (for humans). Was this because the Engineers also required similar air make-up as humans? Or was that the right environment for the Black Goo to thrive?

:lecture :clap :exactly: :goodpost:

Real FX are still way superior to CG. Even as advanced as CG gets, it never MOVES in a truly life-like manner.

For some crazy puppeteering magic, look at the Little Shop of Horrors, no CG whatsoever, and not only does it move incredible well, but its lip-synced! :horror

Even some of today's animatronics are inferior to work done in older films.
