I also would rather watch Prometheus over Blade Runner. Mainly because I think the latter is overrated.

Avatar I don't think is overrated. All I ever see is people saying how crap it is so how can it be overrated? Same with Titanic.

I agree, I enjoy watching Avatar and Titanic (occasionally ) but both movies are way overrated. They are fun and huge productions, which make them exciting, but don't hold a leg to Prometheus or Blade Runner. BR is just a classic in my opinion, and I hold it up so highly.

I thought I was... Avatar and Titanic are overrated...

Although most people that I talk to, as you said, say negative things on it, in the media it seems to be painted as some grand movie making success... ?

Avatar I don't think is overrated. All I ever see is people saying how crap it is so how can it be overrated? Same with Titanic.

I don't think Avatar or Titanic are overrated. The media may initially paint these films amazing movie making successes but very soon the 'cool' mode of thinking filters into magazines and so forth and before you know it the retrospective reviews come in slighly less favourable. Overrated initially perhaps, but not anymore. The opposite is arguably the case.

Personally I love both films, Titanic probably moreso, although I'm a bit Titanic-ed out after the 100year anniversary this year.

I haven't seen the full movie in so long. If Titanic is on TV I'll watch it, but that is usually half way through.

I've watched Avatar maybe two or three more times. Since I got Prometheus when it came out I've watch the movie several times plus all the goodies. I just can keep going back.

Totally agree. Avatar was overrated at one point in time..but not anymore. I don't think I've seen one positive comment about it on this forum. I don't even think it was a bad movie. I liked the designs, story has been used several times before but I still enjoyed it.

Blade Runner is a classic I mean come on Rutger Hauer and Daryl Hannah!!
God I love that movie just the feeling and atmosphere...even though most if not all of the movie is in a studio,lol.

Okay enough about Blade Runner these 2 movies are much too different to compare not to mention the special effects in Prometheus are way up to date. I just watched Prometheus for the second time and like it even more now. Again I was under the impression (from lack of research before watching this movie) that this would be a direct prequel to Alien but I was wrong. Watching this movie a second time around with a more open mind realizing this is way before Alien I was able to enjoy it much more. I was reading up on the Actor who played the final Engineer I believe was the same actor who actually played all of the Predators in both AVP's and if I am not mistaken the new super pred's as well. I read this on imdb if they are accurate or not who knows. I really dig the look of the engineers.

I'll have to give Blade Runner another shot. I do own the 5-disc BD set

As far as an Alien prequel goes for Prometheus, I think it's a big part (but not the only part) of why so many people complain about this movie. They were expecting something else. For me it's the best scifi movie I've seen in many moons.

Yes, it is a brilliant movie, from a story and technical standpoint.

For me it's the best scifi movie I've seen in many moons.

I'd say Prometheus is the best sci-fi film since Aliens though T2, the original Matrix, District 9, and Avatar are all strong contenders.

I'd say Prometheus is the best Sci-Fi HORROR film since Aliens. It had some great shock factor to it and erie moments. (Love the Engineer deleted stuff) The Shaw pregnancy (though spoiled by trailers) made me cringe still.

I don't think of Prometheus as a horror film. Alien is a horror, Aliens is action, Alien 3 is...what would you call it...more of like a dramatic 'godly' epic if that makes sense. I'd put Prometheus with Alien 3 in that regard.
