Scott said that keen fans will recognize strand of ALIEN dna and the movie shift into ALIEN territory in its last 11 or 8 minutes.
But no THE alien won't be showing up anytime whatsoever nor THE facehugger. New creatures from the same biotech, probably having some familiar features but bigger from what i've heard, wich is normal if they are born from the Engineers aka Space Jockey.
Scott stated it officially but a lot want to believe that he is still lying about, because they think he lied when he said that PROMETHEUS was not an ALIEN prequel.
Which is true and untrue.
True since no caracter from ALIEN will be in PROMETHEUS.
It's a side story, a companion piece not a direct prequel that will show us how THE Dereclict crashed on LV426 nor the conception of THE proto alien (before his DNA was mixed with humans).
Not true because the script for PROMETHEUS is the same as the original prequel to ALIEN written by Jon Sphait. Scott couldnt get the budget he wanted for the prequel from FOX so he asked Damon Lindelof to remove all the direct links to ALIEN promising to FOX that PROMETHEUS could work on its own and could spawn it's own sequel.
The original ALIEN prequel story was how the Humans met with the exact same dead Space Jockey from ALIEN who was on route for Earth with his bioweapons cargo (the Eggs) to conquer it, how he was impregnated by a facehugger and how the surviving humans fought him making his ship crash on LV426 and fought the huge alien that punctered the space jockey chest.
PROMETHEUS story is almost the same, but it's not space jockey, nor the Derelict, nor LV426 from ALIEN.
I'm not sure tho if all the human sub story about the old Weyland, the accelerated Human pregnancy or human/Space Jockey hybrid was in the original script and the whole Space Jockey created us angle were in the original prequel script.
The last minutes are either some sort of cat and mouse game that you have between Ripley and THE alien in ALIEN or a direct nod to the Nostromo or The Derelict (and no the alien ship seen in the trailer is not THE Derelict from ALIEN but another ship from the same class).
