This movie won't suck. It can't..it simply can't. Somthing so epic just can't suck..and I too am glad that they erased the AvP franchise's canon..god I am so pumped for this, that video was amazing.

Idunno what it was, the atmosphere..the emotion of the video..knowing that it's part of the alien universe..just insanely powerful.

When I have an A/P marathon, I always watch AvP and AvP:R as well..This will be the last time I watch them as part of the series. After that, Prometheus will come out and they will be gone. Distant memories.

Ridley Scott continued to make movies and Lucas hadn't made a movie for 20 years and Scott's movies have been good for the most part. Although I understand the argument. I am trying to keep my expectations in check....but it's not working! I want this movie now!

I hope Scott is still capable of producing something of such quality as Alien and Blade Runner. I think he is, but am trying to talk down myself from the anticipation because well...I remember how I felt after watching TPM.

Well... AVP nevah was a canon to "Alien" or "Predator".
AvP is AvP - just a spin-off conceptual trash bag universe.

I have not viewed AvP in a long time, but I'm pretty sure Lance Henriksen (Charles Bishop Weyland) was supposed to be the lead guy/founder of Weyland Industries.. Also, I seem to recall Henriksen, in AvP, always going on about how his company was the best.."We've got the best equipment money can buy" stuff along those lines..so that would also lead you to believe he was the founder, and that they were already very well-known.

This is from the 2023 TED video...

"Considered a seminal moment in the career of our founder Peter Weyland, this 2023 TED Talk launched Weyland Corp into the international spotlight.

To honor this historic event, Weyland Corp is planning to offer a new round of investment soon. Interested parties can expect to find out more within the next few days."

Well... AVP nevah was a canon to "Alien" or "Predator".
AvP is AvP - just a spin-off conceptual trash bag universe.

You could still treat it as canon though..but now you really can't. They pretty much erased Charles Bishop Weyland.

Theres nothing to say Charles and Peter were not brothers. The clip from Peter was 19 years after the death of Charles so its more than enough time to completely be in the driving seat of the company after its falling into your hands. Maybe they already co-ran the company. It is a family business after all.

Seriously though, that's not what they were going for. Charles never mentioned a brother, he seemed to be the founder..and Peter would have been way too young...doesn't make any sense. I don't see why Ridley Scott would try to fit Charles in anyway, he's said that he doesn't care for the AvP films..and even some of the Alien sequels...plus, he directed Alien, not Anderson.

It seems like if Charles was supposed to be his brother, co founder or whatever..that he would be mentioned in this famous speech, as well..This speech was supposed to be what really kicked off the company, but in AvP the company was already huge..Charles was on magazine covers, had satellites everywhere.."best equipment money can buy", etc...
