Dissapointment happens when one expects too much...I was just happy that it came out...that's all...It was nice to see something else besides the other 3 earlier films and nice seeing some old characters again.....It wasnt that bad of a flick...not at all...it was a must see film no matter what...

And just for the record, I thought all 3 of the newer SW films sucked. But only because they sucked, not because of some unrealistic expectation I had about them.

And, I dunno...I don't like that mentality of "Rather this then none at all". I'd rather have something good, then something bad. I don't know. This isn't a star wars debate, I was just saying that it is possible this movie is going to suck. And I hope not. I really, really hope not. This is the most anticipated movie ever for me. So it needs to work.

I agree with you there. I was 8 so, I had no expectations. Other then lightsabers and Darth Maul.

I'm very excited for this, but I'm keeping my expectations pretty much in check.
I mean, let's be honest, Scott's past his prime and has been for quite a while now. Add to that the fact that no matter what he says everybody's looking at this as a prequel to Alien and you're set up for a big disappointment.
For Alien fans this is as big as Episode 1 was for SW fans. And I doubt anything can live up to that kind of expectations. We the fans just can't help it, we want the same magic as the first time around.

For my part, I'm just hoping it's a good science fiction thriller. Any nods to Alien will be icing on the cake.

and I don't care about the "fact" that it is positioned as a prequel. ALIEN franchise died with Ripley. The end.

If Scott can't do this, then I think no one can, and indeed the Alien franchise should be left untouched if this fails.
