Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

I guess I didn't take this movie that serious. I thought it was a fun sci-fi movie with the usual problems these films have.

That's exactly what it is. The problem is that it was probably supposed to be much more, especially given its pedigree and the build up.

I guess. I went in just looking to be entertained and see if this would interest me more in the franchise. It did both as I'd like to catch alien again and see what I can tie together. I suppose hardcore fans of the series made it more than what I took of it.

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

I am tempted to get the art book as well. Weta did work on this and I'd like to see what they did for the movie and if much of that is in the book.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I think morphosis made one of the most sensible and candid comments in this thread about not everything needs to be answered especially when your dealing with this kind of subject matter because in reality there are no answers.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I'm not bothered at all about the movie's philosophical questions going unanswered. What did bother me though was the absolutely lackluster script, complete with supposedly brilliant scientist characters who are as dumb as teenagers in a grade D slasher film.

Name me a film where key 'experts' haven't made stupid decisons that have resulted in the way the film was intended to head.

If everyone was smart it would have been a case of; they land, they explore and gather some samples, they say hello to the Engineer and find out why they created humans. It ends with the whole team aboard the ship flying off into the distance hi-fiving eachother. The End.:D

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

You can't possibly be defending some of the utter stupidity that was in this film. A majority of the characters and their dialogue and actions are absolutely no better than in the first AvP. Prometheus was supposed to be infinitely better than that. Instead, what separates it is amazing design, great visuals, and 2-3 performances that deserved to be in a better movie, especially Fassbender as David.

I'm not defending it; it's just the issues everyone has problems with don't stop me from liking the film as much as I and several others do. The fact that The Fass delivered a top notch performance against a visually stunning backdrop within a film genre I love was the icing on the cake for me.

Aliens in on Channel 4 by the way for you guys in the UK.:yess:

Very difficult for some folks to be critical of something they've convinced themselves will be awesome with a self fulfilled prophecy set of blinders.

We've all been guilty of this in one form or another.

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

Just saw this and enjoyed it very much. But I do have questions for anyone that might shed some light. The ship at the end is the same in Alien, yes? So how did the Space Jockey end up back in the chair? Or you think something else would be explained in a possible prequel sequel?

Even the top films have continuity and plot hole issues though. I'm watching Aliens at the mo and moviemistakes.com reports 57 mistakes.:wink1:

It's not the same ship or planet. Both events happened in the same universe but at completely different times.

Doubt this is the case. Seems like people are making a big deal out of nothing.

I shall see though... Tomorrow morning...
