Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

Bad examples.

AVP is the highest grossing Predator film domestically of all time and the second highest grossing Alien film domestically of all time (behind Aliens). And all three Transformers movies made over $300 Million each domestically.

That's why those movies got sequels.

Lol, too bad AVP was only a fraction of the money maker that Alien or Predator were. Both were box office juggernauts, whereas AVP was a "movie that came out ". Its awesome not using inflation or RoI figures.

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

Guess that doesn't apply here because there's hundreds of threads filled with people fawning over stuff they like. It goes both ways.

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

Okay, been browsing this thread a bit. I'm not even that big of a Alien fan, I don't know the in's and out's and such, but my take is that this will lead into alien quite nicely. Doesn't Shaw leave with a Space Joceky shuttle to look for other answers about the species? I wonder, if she crashes on a planet in the sequel (which would be the planet in Alien) maybe due to an Unknown life form on board? Looking at the pics a couple pages ago of the facehuggers latched on to the Space Jockies it seems like that might have been a normal ordeal, so maybe an "xeno" is already on board? Anyways the plot ensues yodda yodda etc. And that's the crash-site that the Nostromo rolls up on?
Just a thought.

You just won the internet.

Lol, No. Even if she crashes on that planetoid, its not the same ship.

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

Its awesome not using inflation or RoI figures.

Adjusted for inflation:

AVP # 4 behind Alien, Aliens, Alien 3
AVP # 2 behind Predator

i.e. it did better than both franchises last sequels (Alien: Resurrection & Predator 2) domestically when adjusted for inflation. So it got a sequel.

Happy?

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

Saw it today. I really liked it. Not Aliens good, but good none the less. I don't understand how people are saying this doesn't tie in to Alien. It did to me, but then, I don't study movies like some do so I don't know fine details. I just enjoy them for what they are.

Some people wanted to see exactly how and why the ship in the original Alien crashed. On screen.

Honestly I don't think we need to. We have enough information to come to the conclusion of what happened. Hell, we did in Alien. It just left questions open about the mysterious "Space Jockey", it's ship and it's cargo. Which we got... mostly. Some things could still be cleared up about the "xeno" itself.

Sequel Time! :banana

Oh it's not? They look pretty damn close?

(couldn't find a picture of the ship flying away at the end, but it's the same model.)

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

Sorry if this has been posted. I can't read through the whole thread to find out......

https://cavalorn.livejournal.com/584135.html#cutid1

Yep, a couple times, but its one of the best reads post seeing the flick, it should be at the top of every page of the thread imo so that people don't have to dig for it.

How do you know that? She's on a different ship now.

For me its assumption and part reading spoilers after seeing the movie. I had read reports saying theres design differences like the ship is obviously the same type, but with variations. Secondly, say they went to the ship and there was a dead jockey in the seat, they're going to move him to activate the ship and if they couldn't move the body and somehow work around it... Third, since the planetoid they were on seemed to be plagued by headbursters, it would not fit into the dead jockey from Alien anyways.

Didn't the one flying away at the end look like the one that they rammed? Do you think they're the same ship because they look alike? Do you think David fixed the ship? he said theres alot of those ships on that planet, I would guess they all pretty much appear to look the same.

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

I'm confused. :lol

All the ships are similar no? So, Shaw and David take another ship one that doesn't need repaired, but looks identical to the ship that gets taken out by Prometheus and the one that crash lands on the planet in Alien.

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

I saw this movie and was very confused. Is this movie base on aliens or about how humans began on earth? I walked out half way it was just way too slow moving and confusing for me. So at the end of the movie did aliens show up?

Not interesting enough to stay, but interesting enough to ask on the interwebz?

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

I remember him saying that but did they show them finding one? That movie is one big blur to me now.

BB

No, they just cut to them taking off in the Space Jockey ship. I assume Noomi dragged him to it and they got in the ship. It just wasn't shown on screen.
