I'm always ready for another take on the Dark Lord...

...and I still enjoy Sideshow's first effort...

All the best in 2012, everyone!

But who is fighting Ben, Bespin Luke and ROTJ Luke than?

Since I don't plan on owning any of them, I really don't need to purchase multiple Vaders, do I? I'm cheap. I want the clone commanders, a nice Vader, Boba, and Mace Windu. I can't afford to go full force in this line, though I've heard it doesn't work out like that.

Didnt want to go thru 500 plus pages - anyone done a tutorial on shortening the Vader body a little? Looks like they added a 2nd middle torso section with padding to make him freakishly tall - trying to see how easy/hard to remove that part and connect rest back up

Thanks

I took about an inch off mine by removing one of the mid torso sections and cutting a chunk out of the thighs.

I modified the torso ball joint peg by shortening it and putting back together. That lowered it 3/4 inch.

I then sawed off 1/4 inch of the thighs and glued them back together for a full inch off the height.

Now instead of 14 1/2 inches he is 13 1/2. More like 6'9" rather that 7'3".

I'm not picking him for my Imperial basketball team now! :pfft: :rotfl

I just did the torso mod (replaced the stomach, with one from a regular armored body)... the legs do seem a bit long; but I didn't want to mess with removing a chunk of the thigh and the height is different enough from the original figure to look good in my eye.

I also changed out the cape for a lForigno one and adjusted the angle of the dome. All pretty simple fixes, but they make a big difference.

:clap good mods. major improvement.

I still find mine to be too tall by about 1/2 inch. I usually correct for that by bending the knees a bit to cheat but his boots won't let that happen without him looking like he's squating.

If SS gets the height correct on the next one, I'll swap out the body.

Still waiting for SS to announce another Vader or HT... come to think about it. I hope HT would make a Vader. After all, I think if SS make the next Vader. It will be priced same as any HT, minus the intricate and finest of HT figs.

That looks pretty good man!

Thanks :duff

I still prefer my rotj medicom one modded taller...

I'd like to see some pics of that... generally when I've seen the Medicom made taller the proportions seemed to get really funky. While the ROTJ was a small figure; the original proportions were quite good.

Yeah, even with the mods he's still too tall... but its not enough to really bug me or make me want to do a body swap.

There's a crazy person in every thread....! :)

I disassembled my Vader and tried to remove the 1" high torso piece, but its really designed to hold together with both - may cut the legs down, but in the end, decided to mess with this another day

Just to be clear have to replace the torso piece with a stormtrooper one... you can't just remove it. It's been awhile since I did it so I can't recall if the connectors are the same on both, or if I had to use the connectors from Vader to get the stormie one to work. But it was easy to figure out once all the pieces were there.

I did. I completely removed a torso piece and modded the ball peg to be shorter and put it back together. Took 3/4 inch off. Still wasn't happy though so I went for the thighs.

Also added the hasbro dome.
