Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

Anyone who has the Viper knows how big he is, the Guard is an absolute beast. Genetic freaks :rock :rock :rock

Awesome Duo :1-1:

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

I don't mind the CG being bigger. For a number of years here, there was an unofficial official practice of only hiring state police officers who met height requirements, so it was normal to see a bunch of officers together and a couple state police in there towering over everyone. Comical really, but totally the norm. You 100% knew a state police officer even without the uniform. The were always huge guys.

So it makes a certain amount of sense the Cobra Commander would have the same kind of requirements for his elite guard.

:hi5: That actually makes alot of sense and Im keeping it with original body, saves money doing so. Now I can begin saving for Snake Eyes :yess:

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

Not really free, you still have to pay the 79.00 to have AP.

True but I make 1-5 purchases from amazon a month so the savings is huge vs paying 15.00 per 5Ib box. Plus you get amazon instant videos which is slowly catching up to Netflix's library size.

I talked to a SS rep yesterday sharing my disappointment they said they could overnight my package next time for 58$!!! crazy but that's how it is, i just gotta wait a week at a time for my SS.com purchases.

One very nice thing the Rep at SS did was give me a list of all the people around me they distribute to, most of the places I haven't even heard of :panic:so I'm going to be doing a road trip soon.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

They may be bringing their best with the Cobra releases but some of the Joe releases aren't nearly as fun. I think SS is really hampering themselves by not trying to go after what makes these characters GI Joes. There are several companies out there that have been making great modern military figures for years. Not sure if that makes sense or not.

Couldn't disagree more. Rock and Roll and Falcon were just as epic as any of the current Cobra releases.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

Got mine. I echo what EVILFACE said.

I am really impressed with tailoring. There is a lot going with the uniform and its all done extremely well. No sloppy sowing or layers looking bulky or out of scale. Everything on the uniform is top notch.

As for the holster I just heated them up and formed it to the leg and fit the pistol in while it was hot. Easy fix. Overall, a pretty solid figure. Other than the material choice, I got nothing to complain about.

I do love the sculpt. Not necessarily a good choice for Falcon, but I think it looks excellent on a Joe body. Tons of attitude. Perfect for am ass kicking Joe.

Great pics King! And really a pretty impressive looking figure; Sideshow really had brought out their best for the Joe line :rock

I'm not sure on likeness, but I think this head would almost be perfect for a Doc Savage figure.

Nice shots KingNoPants!

Agree. Both are awesome right out of the box. Dusty and Flint are the only ones that need tweaks to be awesome as well. And that is what makes this figures fun. Unless you just take something out of the box and put it on the shelf, which means you should be collecting statues instead.

I added dual belts and pouches to my CG. Helps with the thin waist look and gives him more vintage look. Heated the holster like King did but gave him a revolver. He is a fantastic figure and looks great with the rest. Though I do wish they would have dropped the gold and with with all silver on those bits.

that looks really cool!!! with that dual belts, where did you get those???

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

Great figure with awesome tailoring. Love the Vector, and I'd like to see Sideshow tackle some more weapons in 1/6 scale that they haven't been attempted before. While it's understandable that most of the Joes would have standard issue XCRs (with certain parts customized to the particular soldier, of course), but it's cool that the troopers and officers had variations of the AKs, and the Vipers' Masada / ACR.

Still not completely happy with the helmet, but I'm certain I couldn't have done better, so any complaints I have are null and void.

Also, I didn't have any issue fitting the Desert Eagle into the holster. I just added a "little" force...but that "little" force I added snapped the SERPA holster right off :slap.

Debating whether I should e-mail Sideshow to see if they'll replace it or to just wait and purchase one off of Monkey Depot or T/A. I normally would, but after a sterling run of Sideshow products with no issues (PFs, maquettes, 1/6 figures), my last three Joes all had some sort of QC issues that I had to get Sideshow to take care of.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

My CC is on the UPS out for delivery right now. Time to go make some space on the the Sideshow Joe shelf for him !

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

Thanks everyone!

Good call on DC likeness Galactiboy.

Some super glue will fix that easy enough Dino.

And EVIL, that looks perfect. I wanna do the same. I just need a couple decals from you. That small addition of that belts makes a big improvement.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

A revolver would be awesome. I'd get a new holster for it though.

The one he comes with is exactly what I've wanted for my Viper. I wonder if he has a left trigger hand.

Yeah, I was planning to do that. I just hope the superglus doesn't permeate the plastic and bleed through to the fabric on the paints. Just have to make sure I don't over do it.
