That's the thing, though. For me, the focus on giveaways and discounts on products no one wants is what is diluting Spook. It used to be about celebrating Sideshow's horror-related stuff with cool new products. Now it's just marketing gimmickry, culminating in a regrettable focus on Facebook.

Don't forget twitter:monkey2

So what did you guys think of the event overall ?

I personally was not impressed with the product reveals.

Star Wars Friday was nothing to remember.

And overall the searches were for nothing impressive and discounts on items that were not really desired. And you worked for it at times pretty hard to find nothing.

Just my opinion.

I completely agree. But it was really fun haining out here and chatting (and suffering) with all of you and there still are a lot of contests that need winners. Overall I'd give it a C-. I hope next year they do a little more here since after Day 1 they dissapeard.

I was disappointed in the pre-order offerings and the lack of any real discounts on in-stock products, but I think I was more frustrated with the glitches than anything else. I gave up on Spook 3 days ago because of that. Sideshow spread themselves too thin with Facebook and Twitter. They focused more on social media this year than on their traditional avenues that was disappointing too.

2 days ago here.

It was fun at the get go, bought the kit and everything but then ran sour...

I enjoyed the event... I didn't have as much time to dedicate to it this year. But for what it was I had fun.

I just appreciate that Sideshow would go through all the trouble to host such a fan-centered event.

Although for me I didn't win ____ this year, and no pre-orders were placed :lol

Same, I'm still pretty close to P.O.'ing HG Com, still thinking about it. I hope it's 1/4 scale or in line with the rest of the Spidey Coms.

I was so disappointed with the products up for order. Especially Thursday and Friday.

I also do not think FB and Twitter should be apart of it. Spook should continue to be what happens on their site (chat, scav hunts and freebie decoders, etc) and what happens on the board that freaks come to to talk about ssc, their products, etc. We all are here daily because of how important ssc is to us. So...freaks needs more love.

They did a lot of website giveaways for high priced items. But I think they should have given most of those in chat instead. AND, should not have announced on FB and twitter every damn time there was a contest in chat, or doors. How unfair was it for people sitting in chat for ALL those hours to compete agains newbies who didn't care to hang with us, chat, and share their ssc love. They came for the giveaway, and left. Yeah, cause that's loyalty.

Other than that major, HUGE, GIGANTIC complaint. I have nothing else.

Did I enjoy Spooktacular, of course. For me it's about the thrill of the hunt and connect with awesome people in chat.

Do I think it was a GOOD Spooktacular, honestly no. The whole thing just seemed like more self promotion then anything and while I DO get why they would do it, it just didn't seem like as much of a nod to the fans as it has been in the past. The FB/Twitter thing got a bit annoying as well. I had at least 7-8 tabs open at all time and it was giving me a headache!

I will have to agree with you all (Sarge) This Spooktacular was mailed in...thanks to the mods that did show up for the brief moments you did..i know you had other work to do...but the best way I can describe my feeling is the difference from last year and the years before and this year is when you found out there was no santa clause..christmas was just not the same anymore..and spook will never be either...stinks.

My major complaint was the vocal minority of entitled newbies that think that begging is the same as chatting. They were brought in during contests in waves, spamming the chat and then disappeared once the prizes were handed out. I think a good Twitter contest would be like the "First person to say * in chat wins a *" and then do doors unannounced sometime later. This would lessen the length of the beg wave and lessen the spam during the more interactive games. Just my two cents.

Twitter and Facebook are evil and ruined a big part of it. I always felt it was a reward to loyal fans..This year the loyals were pushed aside in the moments before a chat..with the mad rush of prize seekers...only to all evaporate after. These people arent buying the products on a regular basis...and no higher ups stopping in to say hi? I know they were mobbed for prizes..but could have disabled chat and pm'ed questions to mods....I dont know..i got to get something to drink to wash out this bad taste spook has left

The Walking Dead was... amazing. I was cool with the length of it, and once it gained momentum, baby did it gain momentum. Can't wait to watch the rest of the season. Total immersion. :rock

Agreed. Loved the premiere! I can't wait to watch the rest of the series. :clap

Spook was crappy this year... Not even close to as fun as years past. As has been said, it's become a vehicle for Sideshow to attract more and more people to the hobby, not, as it was in the past, to give a massive thank you to those who are already passionate about their products.

So anyone win anything big? I'm not going through 15 40 post pages to see. Congrats to those who did win!

Walking Dead is good then??? I have it recorded! Can't wait! :rock

Change is always a good thing. Sideshow made a strategic move by incorporating Facebook and twitter into the Spook event. I commend them for their efforts. That being said, I think they tried to do too much at one time and ended up spreading themselves too thin.

I really missed Chris, Dennis, Dusty, and Alex in chat this year. It is really a sad thing that they can't come in just to chat and have fun with us without a barrage of trolls grabbing at anything they can. I have teased and asked for things to go up for contest, but never with the expectation of actually getting it. The whole attitude of self entitlement and then complaining afterword is what killed spook for me.

When I first joined Spook chat and the freaks board it was because of for the first time I felt like I was welcome somewhere for the geeky, oddball, flake that I am and not what people thought I should be. I could be myself and had friends because of it. This year I didn't feel any of that and was sad because of it.

I don't mind adding to the event at all, but I hope that if Sideshow does it like this next year, they don't over extend themselves again, I would really like to chat (and I do mean actually chatting not begging) with them again they are all great people and I missed them a lot this year.

Sorry if this is soapoperaish
