Does any of you Spook Freak veterans know if it's possible to change usernames? I created this username for this year's Spook and don't want it anymore. :nana:

Change is always a good thing. Sideshow made a strategic move by incorporating Facebook and twitter into the Spook event. I commend them for their efforts. That being said, I think they tried to do too much at one time and ended up spreading themselves too thin.

I really missed Chris, Dennis, Dusty, and Alex in chat this year. It is really a sad thing that they can't come in just to chat and have fun with us without a barrage of trolls grabbing at anything they can. I have teased and asked for things to go up for contest, but never with the expectation of actually getting it. The whole attitude of self entitlement and then complaining afterword is what killed spook for me.

When I first joined Spook chat and the freaks board it was because of for the first time I felt like I was welcome somewhere for the geeky, oddball, flake that I am and not what people thought I should be. I could be myself and had friends because of it. This year I didn't feel any of that and was sad because of it.

I don't mind adding to the event at all, but I hope that if Sideshow does it like this next year, they don't over extend themselves again, I would really like to chat (and I do mean actually chatting not begging) with them again they are all great people and I missed them a lot this year.

Sorry if this is soapoperaish

Serenity..Sarge appreciates you ya big oddball :p

I completely agree. But it was really fun haining out here and chatting (and suffering) with all of you and there still are a lot of contests that need winners. Overall I'd give it a C-. I hope next year they do a little more here since after Day 1 they dissapeard.

I don't disagree. I always love hanging with my Freaks. I wish we could access a chat server like this more often. That was the best. But that has more to do with my fellow freaks than Sideshow.

The Twitter thing is kind of annoying too, yes... but it's not nearly as egregious as Facebook because almost every company users Twitter for marketing purposes now and anyone can read/access the feeds.

:exactly:

I was so disappointed with the products up for order. Especially Thursday and Friday.

I also do not think FB and Twitter should be apart of it. Spook should continue to be what happens on their site (chat, scav hunts and freebie decoders, etc) and what happens on the board that freaks come to to talk about ssc, their products, etc. We all are here daily because of how important ssc is to us. So...freaks needs more love.

They did a lot of website giveaways for high priced items. But I think they should have given most of those in chat instead. AND, should not have announced on FB and twitter every damn time there was a contest in chat, or doors. How unfair was it for people sitting in chat for ALL those hours to compete agains newbies who didn't care to hang with us, chat, and share their ssc love. They came for the giveaway, and left. Yeah, cause that's loyalty.

Other than that major, HUGE, GIGANTIC complaint. I have nothing else.

:goodpost: Thanks BG. I had limited time and to sit in chat with high hopes was really harsh. I understand using social networks for well.. social activity, but this didn't really do that for this event.

Did I enjoy Spooktacular, of course. For me it's about the thrill of the hunt and connect with awesome people in chat.

Do I think it was a GOOD Spooktacular, honestly no. The whole thing just seemed like more self promotion then anything and while I DO get why they would do it, it just didn't seem like as much of a nod to the fans as it has been in the past. The FB/Twitter thing got a bit annoying as well. I had at least 7-8 tabs open at all time and it was giving me a headache!

I agree. I think of spooktacular and I think of Dead, Classic Universal, Horror.... we really got none of that this year. And it has been dwindling since before this year. it's really sad in my opinion.

Greetings all-

First time Spooker, long-ish time Sideshow customer.

Anyone know how/when they'll post the list of winners of all the random drawing contests and the Scavenger Hunt contest?

Welcome to the Forum Kamikaze! Looked like you were having a good time in chat.

I don't think they post a list, per se, but you can go to the contest page, and click each contest individually to see who won each. The earlier winners are posted, but it will be a couple of days before the latter ones are updated with the winners.

Too late you will forever be... ZOMBIE WHORE !!!!!!!

PM Admin and see if they can help you out.

I think a good Twitter contest would be like the "First person to say * in chat wins a *" and then do doors unannounced sometime later. This would lessen the length of the beg wave and lessen the spam during the more interactive games. Just my two cents.
I agree that doors should be random and unannounced. It would stop the serious Java chat lags. But I understand that Sideshow is trying to get more people involved. However, the people who spent a LOT of time in chat this year were ignored more than in past years.

Seeing as the last two days of Spook fell on a weekend, when people have to take the kids trick-r-treating and have other family obligations since the kids are home, I can understand them not having as much time available. They are basically working overtime without getting paid for it, so I truly have no complaints. I just hope they take the criticism we have posted as "constructive criticism" for improvement and don't see it as ungrateful.

It's been said before, but I have to say it again. SSC does not have to do this for us! Other companies surely don't do anything like this for their customers. So I'm appreciative for everything Sideshow does, and truly want to thank each and every one of them for their time and support! And for that, I applaud them. :clap :clap :clap

Agree Agree:goodpost:

Very well spoken I couldn't agree more.

To those that hung around in chat LATE last night, Did Alex ever show up? Anything at all happen? I just couldnt make it past 1:30amEST.

is it just me or were some of the contests beyond difficult? Of course there were people stuck on the ones I thought were easy too, but I had a particularly difficult time this year, anyone else.

I stuck around until 11 sideshow time (midnight my time) and nothing had happened.

I thought a good many of the contests were tougher than years past. I was out of town without internet for the first half though so I'm mainly complaining about my quest to catch up with the Scavenger hunt. However there were some decoder discounts, freebies, etc. that I just gave up on.

Did anyone enter the pumpkin, costume or decoder contests this year? I squeaked in a couple of pictures last night but I'm not holding out much hope...they could have been better.

I thought the freebies and chat hunts were easy, it was the ones that should be easy that weren't. :lol
