no i didnt, this is the 1st year i got nothing at spook, not even meaning freebies, i literally bought nothing .its depressing, i saved some cash for this but nothing at all caught my interest. i was waiting and waiting. no preorder noo in stock no nada

The freebies were waaaaay different this year. Last year was insane:

Next year, I'll check in periodically and apply for various, traditional contests listed on their website. And that is that. I wasted way too much time on this over the last week.

Horribly poor examples. Those companies don't give two ____s or a ____ about their customers. They're just out to exploit their products.

They also don't make Facebook the center-point for what is claimed to be a "fan" event. It's just pure marketing for those companies and they're not even sneaky about it.

I know what Sideshow was going for... they were trying to expand their "community" into Facebook as well. But it kinda back-fired, because it disenfranchised a lot of their core fans and customers, which is always the risk when you market more broadly and more mainstream.

They over-thought it. Pure and simple.

I didn't spend hardly anytime on the site, I checked the new products page from my droid & if I didn't like it, I just exited out and kept on doing whatever I was doing

The statement was theat other companies don't focus so much on facebook and the truth of the matter is that they do. all of these companies have discounts, giveaways, specials, and assorted other promotions specifically for facebook users that are not advertised anywhere else on their sites.

And AQHA does do a lot for it's followers. Admittedly not on the same scale as Sideshow but they do what they can.

Sideshow goes above and beyond for their fans/collectors and they have gained my loyalty. They tried something new only time will tell if their gains outweighed their losses. In a market like we have today you can't fault them for trying to keep things fresh and new. There are a lot of things I would have liked to see done differently, but as has been said many times before, they are not obligated to do anything at all.

Do what I do...I opened up the right port in my home firewall and set up my home desktop to allow Windows Remote Desktop connections.

Then I can connect to and control my home computer from any Windows PC anywhere, including work.

Gets me around all the firewalls and internet filters so I can do simple things like check forums and email.

Oh, and stay in Spooktacular chat all week...

Thanks for the help! Next year I will park my a$$ in chat. Love to hang out with all you freaks in there! Everyone in here seems really cool!

i thought the creature would fit the halloween theme. but i was pretty depressed last night. felt bad for all the lady folk in the family. sucks to bury a dog.

I had a blast, but this is my first year participating so I have nothing to compare it too. I loved hanging out in chat most hours of the day/night and meeting/helping people. The Lobsterfest, Colonfest, and Mortfest were just hysterical. And The Mike winning a gift card because of his knowledge of Alex's cat was priceless. Truthfully I enjoed the chat more when the contests were'nt going on just because it wasn't flooded with people begging for free stuff. The chat was the best part for me even having won a big prize. I would've had just as much fun winless. The ending seemed damn near perfect for the chat as well.

I didn't have a problem with the Facebook and Twitter contests except for the "like" contest. That was just an epic failure of massive proportions. People were sending out mass requests to facebook friends to vote on their entry. Something about politicking like that just seems wrong to me. I thought Spook was about the collector community, not who has the most friends and family on facebook. I guess that's part of integrating social media sites though.

The Rosario incident will probably be the one thing that stands out in my memory the most. I even defended the guy when it first started but then he opened his mouth and revealed his true colors. That guy is a COLONHOLE.

I think the reveals were the biggest disappointment for me. I guess I just expected more than one or two really impressive products to be unvieled. I was really hoping to see a new Dead PF go up. Speicmen 714 is nice and I'll probably pick it up if I can eventually get the rest of the busts at a decent price. Thursday's and Friday's reveal were just baffling. I still don't get the thought behind those. The Gollum and Vampy are awesome and the Nosferatu seemed to fit Spook pretty well.

Regretfully, I never did get to acquire one of Vanders stickers either. That was very awesome of him to make those for people.

Overall I had fun and enjoyed Spook. It was a great time for me although my wife and kids probably hate SS at the moment, lol.
