I was having the same issue towards the end.

For those that have issues, is your Flash up to date? Also, what browser were you using?

Yep, my flash is current (10.1.102.64, updated about 10 days ago). I tried using Firefox 3.6.12 and Chrome 7.0.517.44. I refuse to use IE. For Firefox, I even tried using a generic profile with no extensions loaded at all.

There was clearly a load problem on the SSF server, and my guess is that it was caused by the chat software. The whole site got progressively slower the longer the chat was active, but as soon as everyone left it, the site's response time returned to normal.

I probably wouldn't have won the contest, but it was really frustrating, because I had the answer fairly quickly, but after getting disconnected it took almost five minutes to reconnect. By then it was all over.

And, as Kabukiman noted, I had no problems with any other sites. I even loaded up speedtest.net while Firefox was "waiting for www.sideshowcollectors.com..." in another tab, and got my usual 11 Mbps test result.

I thought it was my internet connection as well because I couldn't get this site to load. When I tried Rebelscum, it loaded right away.

I was having the same problems on and off as well. Last night the boards were SLOW and chat was laggy as well. Pretty sure I was lagging during the contest a bit as well but it would go in and out it seemed like.
