...I don't need some uppity critics at some site, telling me that what I saw, and enjoyed, makes me dumb, or immature, or some less-than-intelligent sloth, incapable of seeing a movie for what it is.

...All this to say, I can see for myself, and have, that it is FUN!
Some movies, are just , plain FUN!

I have said that I cannot speak for the Transformers fans out there, no way. Not my era or generation. BUT, I know a fun movie when I see one. And this was a LOT moreso than anything I have seen this year. BAR NONE!
I really did enjoy Live Free or Die Hard. That one was really good. Pirates stank. Why, because they got too carried away with themselves. Same with Spiderman 3.

This movie however, just took me and led me through a fun ride, and I was glad to be there. No pretense, no plan, just a bunch of giant robots rocking! How....in hell....can that....be taken seriously?!?!??!?!?

Has Dave even watched a Generation 1 Transformers episode? It's not meant to be deep or profound. Although next to any Saturday morning episode of Transformers (with the exception of Beastwars) this movie is freaking ShawShank Redemption of Transformers lore! Just take it as it is. Nothing but a pure pop corn flick built around talking robots that transform into vehicles. If the movie trailers or posters didn't suggest what you were getting yourself into, I don't know what could have... the very thought of these characters with their names and story arch is silly enough, so why can't there be hot NSA agents or screwball FBI agents, etc....

You have a point there Eli. I loved Transformers as a child. However, a few years back, I picked up the first season on DVD and was shocked how horrible the stories and animation were. I know they reused animation clips back in the day to save money, but COME ON! Every time a robot fired it's gun, it was the same freakin' animation. Hell, the backgrounds didn't even match up half the time (they wised up and started setting every episode in what appears to be the Nevada desert eventually). I really built up this "child vision" memory of the show ... and it was shattered watching those DVDs. I know I will incur the wraith of the Prime-gans, but G1 Transformers was nothing more than a 22 minute toy commercial they telecast every Saturday. I really think most of us loved the toys so much, we transformed ...er, transfered that love to the cartoon. I will admit that the 80's Motion Picture was good ... but I have a feeling that comes from having someone other than the Hasbro janitor write the story helped. The Bay movie is The Godfather compared to the cartoon's Corky Romano

P.S. And you know they created the toys first, right? "Yeah, we decided kids like dinosaurs and robots, so we are going to make dinosaur transformers ... you animation guys got a week to get an episode ready" :chew

Same here, my wife laughed at me, but it was in awe!

I'm going again today, I just cant believe how good this movie was!!!

I was like a kid in front of the TV watching after school/Saturday morning cartoons, nothing else existed around me. I felt like I was watching an episode of Transformers on a weekday afternoon frozen until it was over. I don't think I've ever gotten the chills so much in my life and I wanted to weep like a little girl too, it was beautiful.

You said it even better than I could have ever said it. This movie creams the source material. So if you don't like Transformers I can understand you not liking this movie. Then perhaps you shouldn't have expected much, but if you grew up with Transformers in the 1980's and loved those silly yet entertaining cartoons and you hate this movie, something is really messed with you upstairs. lol

Well, the Transformers were created with computers (and knowing my luck, they were probably Macs ), so it's kinda relevant My joke was aimed more at the belief that a beautiful woman can't be smart. Now, if the NSA girl had come in all Clueless "Oh my god, it can't be the Chinese, they like don't have that tech-na-gy stuff fer sure", you might have a point. But, she portrayed herself in a very intelligent manner ... it was believable.

Besides, I was never mad with Dave. I just like to debate things. Seems you are the one with the pint-up anger/agression Maul (which makes your screen name oh so appropriate). Just relax and count to 10 ....1 .....2 ......3

I'm fine, I'm enjoying discussion of Transformers and just don't feel you need to pollute it with the back and forth you and Dave had going in the Mac thread, it can be left there, stay on topic.
