While I understand what your saying when people posting things like you quoted I dont think it is them having a serious personal attack on you Tylerd. The fact is you start so many political/conspiracy and debateable threads that people have learnt to look past it and have a giggle with it, People are just reacting to your threads in humour, the whole 'everything's a conspiracy' statement comes into play and it goes from there.

Airing ones views in a public collectables forum is fine and to be encouraged but to you've been here long enough to know that constantly posting about political debates/oil bills/taxes/government etc in an environment where we generally talk about collectables is bound to end up either very argumentative/heated/locked or just deleted.

Political agendas/conspiracy/religion/oil bills?, save it for your local councillor or political meeting, or just expect if you do start a thread with one of these 'agenda's' it will have varying results/comments/remarks from many members sometimes serious sometimes in humour.

Lets just enjoy this place as a light-hearted public place with people who have similar interest as each other.

even collectibles discussions get out of hand sometimes. if 'other topics' forum was not meant for 'any' other topics, we should have a board rule. at this point, exactly what is allowed in 'other topics' is speculation.

i think life is more than collectibles although i am very much into this hobby. i really feel though if this section is not meant for this type of discussion, it should be enforced across the board. no political, current events, or any other subject that doesn't have a direct relation to collectibles.

Theres only so much checks and balances to be done on the economic system. The government needs to make sure that there is nothing illegal such as monopolies or collusion going on, but if the futures prices are going up, thats a risk that speculators are taking. The key is to make sure people pay for risks that backfire rather than bailing them out. I have faith that eventually the economics of the energy crisis will be the way to get us off oil. When we fully feel the effects, there will be fixes developed. Things need to fail if they are to improve. Sending in the government to fix it is putting a band-aid on a severed arm.

Having the government get involved seems to me to be exactly the thing you wouldn't want if you believe the politicians are corrupt.

i agree 100%. a capitalistic society shouldn't mean automatic success. the bail outs of the airlines, banks and mortgage companies that have failed to the tune of 100s of billions of dollars sure makes gas prices look like a tiny drop in the bucket. but in the case of oil prices, i feel that the current administration via oil speculators just sat back and counted their personal profits while the rest of us choked on the costs.

either you own stock in the oil companies or you enjoy getting screwed at the pump. this is not a democrat/republican debate. high gas prices hurt everyone.

Not the rich people. They don't give a ^^^^!They'll keep driving thier hummers and keep paying for this over priced oil/gasoline.

This whole oil ^^^^ is what happens when you give people or people's control, power and authority over the masses,or one another for that matter!

I don't think the Bush's or Cheney's own that much more in energy stuff than any other rich politician does. I'm sure the Clintons and the Gores and the Kennedys are in it deep as well. And I'm sure there are a lot of politicians with inside information who are getting in on whatever the future solutions are too.
