I rushed home to Priority Pre-Order the Exclusive Venom Comquette. The print you are showing for the Exclusive is very disappointing! The background with the red doesn’t fit, and Venom himself just does not look finished. I was hoping to see art of Venom with a fully-detailed background, not this. And I’m sorry to say just does not do the sculpt justice. So please go back to the drawing board, so to speak!
The artwork that you’ve seen for the Venom Comiquette is in fact the final design, although we’re sorry to hear your reaction! We will share your feedback with our teams.
It should be noted that the print work we include with the sculpture is, in some cases, the design representation that we took our sculpture inspiration from. It isn’t and isn’t always going to be a spot-on, exact copy of where our final creative exploration ended, and we don’t feel that it needs to be. The print was Ariel Olivetti’s original piece of art, which we were very fond of, and it inspired the Gore Group and us while creating the final piece. While there are dissimilarities in the forms of Venom, this represents the interesting evolution many items we do take over their lifespan. We felt the print was a fantastic graphic statement and not every piece needed to be seen on the ‘Marvel city skyline.’ In essence, this is what a great deal of conceptual art looks like. It’s character focused. In the end, we felt it would be a nice change to present the conceptual art as it first appeared so that the purity of the source material was represented and the fans could see the full evolution of the project.
