Re: <> DX14 THE JOKER - MIME VERSION - OMG Photo Review <>

Nolan Batman always wins. Always. That's just how it is I guess. Polls, customs, it always wins and never seems to get old.

You don't hafta like it cuz da hood gonna love it.

Re: <> DX14 THE JOKER - MIME VERSION - OMG Photo Review <>

I wonder what percentage are into Terminator vs Nolan Batman. As it's 1984 - 91 vs 2005 - 2012 as thats where all the young-ins interests are. Bet it's the old farts thats only into Terminator. After all, don't most slag it?
I love both Terminator and Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy and I'm not exactly young (27). I think a better comparison would be just about every franchise vs. Marvel and Iron Man which a ton of people seem to cream their pants over.

Re: <> DX14 THE JOKER - MIME VERSION - OMG Photo Review <>

Fantastic looking head sculpt. Definitely superior to the original release. I should get one of these heads and just repaint the lips.

Re: <> DX14 THE JOKER - MIME VERSION - OMG Photo Review <>

The head sculpt on this is better than the previous one IMO. The paint around the eyes is excellent.

Hot Toys killed it. Looks just as good if not better than the prototype.

Drinks all around guys. Love it when I have no negative vibes about a figure. Can't wait to get this. :duff

I wish they would adopt the double joystick for all their DX releases. Much better system.

Agreed. Separating the eyes on my DX12 made me like it a lot more.

Wow! Looks amazing. I can't wait.

OMG, you know that's a poison tipped pen you have him sucking on, right?

:rotfl

Its not lost on me by the way that I've pretty much become what you and I used to exchange PMs complaining about - all this modding and customs business. And now I'm saying that the stock Terminator figures aren't good enough and need to be modded. :slap Somewhere along the line little flaws became big flaws for me. I now speak from a standpoint of envy that ****in DC gets all the great customising & modding attention.

Don't feel bad. Collecting styles can change. :1-1:

What I don't get is why people need to complain about other people's collecting styles...

..well unless they are NRFB collectors. Then we should all complain. :cuss

Re: <> DX14 THE JOKER - MIME VERSION - OMG Photo Review <>

Wow! I am surprised by how well they do the HS. This is something else. Who knows they will give extra HS because lack of accs and nothing else beside the pen and diorama.....hope can get the joker soon!

I used to be very annoyed by all the Joker and Batman modding because it made my unmodded figures inferior. In a way I still feel that way but I realise that that's not anyone else's fault. If I'm not willing to put in the work/money to do those mods too then that's my problem. But nowadays I'm more annoyed from the POV that it seems Batman figures are held to a higher standard than figures from any other license. If there's a glaring problem with a Batman figure it seems like about 10 different people are actively working on correcting it and taking commissions to fix other people's figures too. Something like Terminator doesn't have that.

We do have people making cool customs like CREGcustoms in the past, Elvis1976 has just done a frozen T-1000 for me, Commando has done a bunch of Terminator-related things that I've availed of - but whose trying to fix that damned neck on DX10 T-800? Have you seen it Mags? You'd be appalled. If I had the talent I'd be working day and night trying to do something about that, sadly I don't. Other people are bothered by it, maybe to a lesser extent than me, but no one is doing anything about it. But as I said if it were a Batman/Joker figure about 10 people would be on the case.

I think people do care more about modding Batman/Joker than Terminator but what are the real major problems with the Terminator figures compared to the TDK? The TDK figure problems are major, Hot Toys ****ed up the TDK suit for several years so people had to mod the Medicom one with some Hot Toys parts. When they finally got a decent suit the cowl was still ****ed up because of PERS and face plates so people either Modded the PERS by sculpting eye lids, or put the Medicom head on the DX12 with Robbies face plate. Finally after god knows how many attempts they still can't sculpt Ledger, so people have to resort to Adam to get a head sculpt looks like Ledger and not a cartoon character. :thud: Personally I believe the TDK problems are more major than Terminator problems.

Do you have a link to the thread about the Terminator neck, like how bad is it?

Well just look at this

Would that be accepted on a Batman-related figure? The size and lack of detail of that neck. The noticeable gaps in the jaw - his head isn't even tilted and those gaps are there. This is a high-end figure here. NECA would be criticised if theirs looked like that.

Incidentally here's a tiny little NECA figure of Arnie that manages to look far more natural

Re: <> DX14 THE JOKER - MIME VERSION - OMG Photo Review <>

NECA's is bad too, but for good reason. The guy is practically shirtless.

No excuse for Arnold's Terminator though. Those SHOULD have had sculpted necks attached to the head from the beginning.

Would look far less toylike and the profile likeness would be better. Just like DX14 Joker.

Re: <> DX14 THE JOKER - MIME VERSION - OMG Photo Review <>

Yup.

There's really no excuse unless someone is looking to make a naked Arnold for display. 98% of the film, he's wearing a collared shirt and a leather jacket that would cover the neck joint. Why Hot Toys continues to do this, even with the BD DX 13 is just down right baffling.

Yeah the neck does look quite thick with lack of detail. Overall it does look pretty bad especially having PERS as well because the whole head looks like it is nearly split down the middle as well, since you have to remove the back of the head move the eyes. Now I know the DX09 has the same thing but when you combine that with gaps in the jaw it makes look worse. Oh well.. at least it looks like Arnie on the profile. So your right if there were more people passionate about this issue people would do some mods and that could probably fixed.

Is that the only problem with the Terminator figures though?

T-1000 likeness could be better. His hairline for one is hilariously wrong.

All Hot Toys necks should be sculpted screw articulation if ****s up the look of a sculpt. The MOS one looks like **** to. :thud:

Re: <> DX14 THE JOKER - MIME VERSION - OMG Photo Review <>

Sadly we're in the minority. Every time I bring I bring it up in the HT Terminator and NECA threads I am quickly outnumbered and descended upon by people more concerned with natural movement than natural visual aesthetic. My argument ''wouldn't it be better to have a figure that might look unnatural in one pose which requires the angling of the head than having a figure that looks unnatural in every pose from all angles except the front all the time'' falls on deaf ears. And I'm frequently told to buy statues instead....despite the fact that I'm not asking for less joints, only the relocation of one joint.

The Bank Robber gets away with lovely poses and articulation with a sculpted neck. Hmm...

At least it doesn't have ridiculously large eyes like DX TDK line. I feel Hot Toys makes a mockery of the TDK line, they try to make the figures look as stupid as possible with PERS and comic book faceplates for Bale as Batman. The only realistic TDK figure with great likeness to is the 1/4 scale Batman. Bank Robber Joker is quite realistic but only looks like Ledger on certain angles.

Re: <> DX14 THE JOKER - MIME VERSION - OMG Photo Review <>

It always seem that Hot Toys make these things knowing the amount of modding that their customers do.

It is a win, win situation for them as at the end of the day as long as they are flying of the shelf's then Hot Toys doesn't care if their customers like their figure stock or modded.

But the neck on the Terminator figure is bad.
