Yes, I agree totally. Even though I was the one who started this particular thread.

Thank you Darklord Dave, this is exactly the reason why this topic was rehashed. Sideshow answering this question multiple times instead of choosing to answer another question is inane, but not SS's fault.

Hopefully, this question, and this particular thread and it's ilk, will fade into obscurity...

Of course it's SS's fault. They do not answer every question they receive [more than likely they're answering somewhere around 10%-20% of them], so if they choose to keep answering the same question over and over again they have no one to blame but themselves.

Maybe they keep answering the question cause people can't seem to grasp the fact that the line is over and done with.

:lecture :lecture :lecture Despite the fact that it was one of the very first lines (might actually have been the first now that I think about it) they actually admitted they were discontinuing!

one day SSC will realize they actually did profit from the 12" LOTR. It may not have been the 80% markup they were used to getting.

I think most people are smart enough to realize when SS say it's over...that's it's over. More than likely this is people hoping if they bring up the subject enough times SS will change their minds. Instead of SS continually answering the same question over and over again they should just ignore them and actually answer some of the numerous other questions they receive that never see the light of day.

Man, that sucks. I know it is old news, but I was still hoping that the Fellowship would get finished eventually. Guess I will pack up the figures I have and use the shelf space for something else.
The Hot Toys Apes will fill that void nicely! :D
Once more with feeling? I thought we were getting a musical thread....

Me too!! I thought they were reviving the Buffy?Angel line.
Where are Fred, Wesley, Gunn.....

Someday someone will pick up the ball & crank out the others. It's only a matter of time. Who would have thought a 12" Jabba would have been made.

The billions of Star Wars fans, and at least the thousands who were more than willing to pay for him. I've no doubt they've already turned a profit on Jabba. Unlike the fickle assed LOTR fans, Star Wars fans are so loyal a good lot need (and probably already have received) restraining orders. :lol

I think Sideshow needs to suck it up and ATLEAST finish the fellowship!!!!! :monkey3

They have the boddies for the hobbits all they need is a small effort for the face sculpts. And make a quick Gimli body like the Gomorean Guard.

Give your Loyal LOTR collectors this and all will be right with the world. If not... LET KARMA STRIKE YOUR COMANY DOWN!!!!!

Its a difficult concept, it took me a long while for it to sink in:
Sideshow doesn't care.
They don't care if the customer feels the need for more figures.
They don't care if the fans think that line has more characters left to make.
They don't care if the failing of a line is, at least in part, their own doing.
They don't care if they take forever in between figure releases.
They don't care if they release too many at once, or too many variants.

The bottom line is that almost every 1:6 line that Sideshow did ended with characters missing:
Universal Monsters
Hogan's Heroes
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Angel
Planet of the Apes
Reservoir Dogs
Outer Limits
Twilight Zone
Hellboy
X-Files
Terminator
and thats just off the top of my head. I'm sure I've overlooked some.

Pretty much every line from Hot Toys is missing Key characters as well i know it has been said many times but Sideshow is a business that makes money from selling products if said products don't sell (like the Lord of the Rings 12 inch figures) then the said business will stop making the product.

If you think about it realistically, every line will be unfinished. Even Star Wars. Its impossible to complete any line. Its not even a realistic expectation.

But a company can make a plan and release certain types of characters which customers would deem obvious choices to fill a line out without "completing it".

Faramir was not a good choice.

Pretty much what my point was.
there will almost always be a character that didn't get made. I think what irks a lot of folks, I know it does me, is the choice selection. There are some characters that seem like they are definites, but never see production, while lesser characters pop up for order.
Oh, yeah, how could I forget:
Highlander

Knowing it will never be complete, I'm happy with just Aragorn/Legolas/Gandalf. Honestly never cared about buying the hobbits, I pretty much just wanted Gimli.

Which, in part, is why Gimli was never made.
