Only figure bad so far is Anakin!

Ah, guys, personally I am getting a little tired of this discussion because we covered it already in the Anakin thread...

Let me just say this if you can indulge me for a moment. This sculpt by Andy Bergholtz is amazing, however the paint apps were not up to standard. Below please behold a repaint by Figure Master Les, it is simply stunning and proves my point as the only changes he made besides the repaint were in shaving the jawline...

I did email Sideshow. I asked if I could send back the head I would love them to re-paint it. I don't think the whole figure is bad. Just the kabuki lips and such. I am still waiting on a reply. Just want what I pre ordered.

I thought the Hasbro Ultimate Villain Anakin was quite fine until Sideshow came along with their Anakin and I thought it was phenomonous!

Looking at my Anakin now I have no issues with the hair color and the lips... Its O'tay for me, yo!

I didn't send mine back, he and Obi-Wan will be getting re-paints at some point. I did however cancel almost all of the rest of the figures I had remaining on pre-order. No more sideshow star wars 12" Russian roulette for me.

The only thing that's off on the Anakin sculpt is the chin, it's a little too large. The rest of the sculpt is absolutely perfect.
The biggest disappointment in the line for me so far is Han, the likeness is a little of, the jacket is too small, I had problems with the belt, he didn't come with enough accessories compared to the Jedi, and the flawed base body is showing a little too much through the costume.

Next would be Mace Windu, The head sculpt looks much better then I had first thought but the likeness is still off.

The likeness is easy to fix on Mace. Just whiten the eyes and apply a paint wash to bring out the facial details and shading. It's a big improvement and looks more like Sammy J instead of a generic figure. Easiest one to fix yet (at least for me anyway).

Every one of the SW figs have been great IMO.... Especially with a little work. I mean, that's how I started painting these things... just got one and said... "Y'know... these are great.... but if I fixed this... they could be way better"

So I painted my first figure and the rest is history. The sculpts are there with all of them.... mostly paint issues or cut of clothing problems that bring down the stunning look of the figure.

Anakin is still one of my favorites.... :chew

I thought the paint job was so bad on all my Star Wars figures that I got so sick of looking at them that I took a sledge hammer and smashed them all to bits! Then I threw kerosine on them and burned them. I could not bare to see them at all! I'm still trying to figure how to have the image of them removed from my memory.

Wow. I can only imagine the carnage if you had gotten any combination of Faith, Willow or Pam Vorhees.

The day I received my Han I wanted to call up Sideshow screaming and slit my wrists in a fit of depression but then I came across this board, saw all of the awesome repaints here and it showed me the way to make it better. I'm learning, but already I have made big improvements to fix things I did not like. The sculpting is superb, but the factory paints are crap. If I were Tom or one of those big guys at Sideshow, I would be up the a$$ of Quality Control at the Chinese factory. What they are outputting is unacceptable quality. This must be fixed IMMEDIATELY.

Darkartist you said it best. These are great figures. I truly believe that. I just think the Anakin did us wrong. He would be great as is yours and Customikey. We all just don't have the talent to re-do the entire face of our figures. Tutorials would be nice. I would be willing to try if someone laid it out step by step. I just can't believe the people who are saying this is a home run right out of the box. That to me is just a mark of a true fanboy. Or someone who is trying to justify their own $60 purchase. Oh and I should probably ad YO. I don't know why. I just guess proper grammer has gone down the tubes too. :emperor
