Paint Apps: can you do better?

Well most of their sculpts are stylized garbage, but the paint apts are mostly clean and well done.

But they are on the extreme end of charging retarded prices for what they make.

Dude, you took my initial post out of context. I was responding to another freak who said to just let Hot Toys take over the 1:6 licenses as his "cureall" for this topic. Then you got all butthurt thinking I was merely bashing HT, or decided to derail the thread with a SSC vs. HT flamewar. My money's on the first guess. I was merely explaining why that's not such a simple solution. So put away the HT Underoos and stop derailing the thread.

If you could stop riding SSCs skin pipe for just 2 seconds, you would be able to understand the guys argument.

I never said you bashed HT...I said the argument you made was more hyperbole than logic. You named one figure (in that post) to support your argument (which was off topic) instead of referencing the topic at hand, which is SSCs obviously sub par paint apps. YOU started comparing getting consistantly crappy paints from SSCs to getting one HTs figure with a slightly off head sculpt.

And just for the record, you've NEVER read any post that I've written defending ANY of HTs misses among their many hits. But YOU on the other hand are so tightly snug between SSCs cheeks its a wonder you can breathe There is simply no defending this abomination that they are passing off as a "collectible".

So just to keep you on topic, this is a question of SSCs constant poor paint QC and NOT about whether their sculpts are better than HTs or not...or which problem is easier to fix

Well most of their sculpts are stylized garbage, but the paint apts are mostly clean and well done.

They are very precise, and two of my favorite figures were made by them, back when $109 for a figure was expensive. No accessories, but the paint is flawless.

The thing is, we can talk about them taking pride in the work and stuff like that, but at the end of the day the goal of SS is to make money like any other business. If they can do that while putting out these sub-par paint jobs, I'm afraid that will continue unless enough people stop buying their figures. That probably won't happen. For me personally, the paint apps on Duke and Flint were the main reasons I didn't try to get into the Joe line, but the figures still sell out so my opinion isn't worth much.

I agree. It's also the reason i've decided to only buy Hot Toys and the odd Medicom figure from now on. To me these are what high end 1/6 figures are supposed to be. I've had enough of SS's crap. Hopefully others take note.

until ssc lowers their prices, i just continue to buy them at the prices i've established as justifiable...via ebay or gohastings or somewhere else that is clearancing them off because they didn't sell. if that means they cancel product oh well. whats it matter to me if they cancel product i can't afford or justify.
