What worries me is that there could always be some kind of strange problem that is completely unforseeable. What if there is a strange charge on your card and your cc company blocks all other incoming charges? That's happened to me in the past. What if they reverse the numbers for some weird reason?

I have no balance and a very high limit, and I've never had a CC issue with SS in the past; but I am still worried about some kind of strange mixup causing my order to be cancelled. I wouldn't mind a safety net of at least having someone call or email me to verify the credit card number. We already got our orders in; I'd hate to lose out at the last second for some crazy glitch because they are now offering no time to correct the payment method.

I'm not directly saying this was done to prevent flipping. I was just simply trying to state that I hope it catches some flippers and prevents them from getting it. Again, like I said above I know it will catch some normal folks but hopefully it catches more of those looking to just turn around and sell.

I don't think your hope will be realized. Chances are that the flippers affected by the change will be outnumbered, possibly significantly outnumbered, by people who wanted the piece for themselves but will lose out.
 
So when are they charging for this? I learned that my mom and my wife want to get me this for Father's Day and I was thinking about converting my order from Flexpay.
 
The change is that status quo is that when a decline or snag hit, they'd let you know and you had about a week to fix it. With this piece if they hit a decline or any kind of processing error like you input a new card and got the exp date wrong or something like that, no warning, nothing just a cancel and someone on the WL gets it.
 
Your card declines = no PF for you. Have the funds ready or your SOL.

ah, no worries for me. my card is unlimited and never had a decline problem before.

But I thought that's how it always was? Isnt that the reason for the pre-processing email? Ie. "this item will be charged tomorrow, please have funds available...etc etc etc"
