I don't think it is a good policy in general, and the overwhelming majority of businesses appear to agree. Imagine if someone went to a retailer, picked up a product, took it to the check-out counter, and accidentally pulls out an expired card to pay. The clerk runs the card, and then says "sorry, it was declined, please leave the store immediately." Not likely.

I'm not even sure it is a good policy this time, especially since - as has already been pointed out - some credit card companies might initially decline the purchase as part of their fraud prevention service.

I have to agree this is a good change of policy, but it does have room for improvement. If your ^^^^ is in order you really shouldn't have anything to worry about. Honestly, I thought that's how it worked to begin with.

Maybe a better way to do this is to allow you to have a back up card as well in case the 1st card declines. But then you run into having multiple cards registered and it becomes more complicated than it has to be. An even better way would be to give you at least a 24 to 48 hour window to address any issues.

I definitely agree with The Josh and hope this policy burns at least one greasy scalper.

There sure has been a whole lot of drama surrounding this particular PF. I can't help but wonder if SS has actually alienated more potential fans than it's attracted with it's initial Dead PF offering.

i would say, 'sure, no problem'...if my card hadn't just been declined for 'security reasons'. sideshow is a pretty regular charge on my card but for some reason my last one was flagged by the security department as fraud. i called the card company the next day, every one was very nice and apologetic, and everything got straightened out but i think if i had missed the item outright due to someone else's error and not my own i would have been more than a little irritated.

I have no balance and a very high limit, and I've never had a CC issue with SS in the past; but I am still worried about some kind of strange mixup causing my order to be cancelled.

Agreed! This is a complete BS method and I see major screw ups happening. I have never had a credit card decline and have a high limit, but this is just asking for problems. I wonder if Sideshow will let us call and pay for it in advance to avoid this new policy.

*I just called and talked to Kathy. She was very friendly and said that it is being reviewed, but she cannot let us pay in-advance. I can't see how this is a good policy. Mistakes happen and we should at least be given a day to fix that before the axe. My advice is for other people to call or email and let them know that this isn't the best idea; it will only take you a few minutes and may detour a TON of problems if they reconsider..

My $0.02. This is an AWFUL policy. I had two CC's recently compromised thanks to cornerstorecomics. While I was in the middle of correcting someone elses mistake, I got my first "Credit Card Declined" email from SS. I fixed it immediately. If that had happened on this order, I would have been so pissed.

This is just going to upset the majority of SS's loyal fan base that have a good track record and might occasionally hit a snag.

Not good business model at all, to turn away and upset customers for what may be outside of their control.

Same feeling but when I got by 3 times my order and that I wasn't able to finalize it.

Maybe I will get a conversion, so it's good for me.

I sent an email to CS. This policy it a terrible idea. I have had credit cards decline before for various reasons. It just does not make sense to let someone pre-order, then have an order placed for many months, only to lose it due to a glitch/security decline or something else. I can see having to have the money available at processing time, but unavailable funds are not the only reason a card could be declined. It could happen to anyone who has an order placed, and I guarantee if it happens to you, you will not be a happy camper. :peace

It looks like all the people who secured an order is now all worried about their credit card of having a glitch, possible losing their order. OUCH.... I would feel uneasy for my other 10 pre-orders now :)

Sideshow needs to implement this policy for all their orders to be fair.

I got this email today also and I have to disagree with it. I'm not sure if any one uses there debit card but sometimes there is a preset limit on them I know that's how my bank is. So say you have a $500 limit per day you go to wal-mart in the morning and spend over $200 and sideshow tries to pull the money out in the afternoon then basically with PZ PF you are outta luck.

My prediction:

People with order = all happy
People on waitlist = all sad and mad
People with order = cancel due to credit card issue
People on waitlist = convert to actual order
People with order = screaming and yelling at Sideshow
People on waitlist = all happy
People with order = still screaming and yelling at Sideshow
People on waitlist = putting the statue on EBAY for sale and laughing LOL
People with order = all sad and mad

That's my prediction...you can NEVER make everyone happy....NEVER :)

Get ready for the popcorn :)

My prediction:

People with order = all happy
People on waitlist = all butthurt
People with order = still happy
People on waitlist = mmmm, sour grapes...
People with order = PZ Ex. shipping to them
People on waitlist = Pissed at Jbinnys crybaby photos
People with order = opens PZ awesomeness
People on waitlist = Throwing away big bucks on ebay
People with order = Happy and glad the whole ordeal is over

That's my prediction...you can NEVER make everyone happy....NEVER :)

Get ready for the popcorn :)

Fixed it for ya. :naughty

I started a thread in the "Ask sideshow" section. Hopefully they will hear some peoples concerns. :peace

Be interesting to see if they answer.

I'm just curious as to why they changed the policy this time. As far as I am aware they haven't done this for limited items before. Only time I have known it to change is for con exclusives where you are give 3 days instead of 5 days to fix a decline.

I wonder if they just changed it due to the upset over the waitlist converts.

If this did become a permanent policy for all orders I would be reluctant to order as much as I do direct.

Most places do give you some time to pay if there is an issue. I don't see why people consider it fair to have a no second change rule. After all you do only get 5 days to rectify, so it's not like they are holding on for a long period of time making others miss out.

Got this notice also... will top up the CC ASAP to make sure more than enough $ is available... then hope for no unforeseen surprises. Seems like some poor soul will get stung by this... fair go Sideshow.

I don't like the policy change one bit because honestly there is a number of things that can go wrong at the last minute and someone will lose out on this. My regular CC expires sometime next month and I have yet to receive my new one so I have had to change my orders to another card that I have only used for small purchases and never for something over $100. I also hope this does not set a precedence for other limited edition SS orders so this could effect everyone that orders other lines from them also.

So what some of us are doing is writing to SS and telling them why we dont like the credit card policy on PZ and to at least give those that ordered him a chance to rectify the situation if the credit cards should decline.
