Could it be Ozone? Usually emanates from electronics.

Ozone is actually bad for you, though I'd imagine the concentration isn't enough to cause harm.

Hmm, I never considered that. I opened up the case, and the smell seems to emanate from the entire system. Not sure what it is, though. I wasn't smelling it last night when I had the computer on for several hours. This is so strange...

I haven't liked not having a backplate on the AMD 7970 card and I couldn't find anywhere to get one but finally found a place that looks pretty cool in case someone was looking for a backplate to cover up the circuit board on their GPU:

Looks cool. But, are there any benefits to having a back plate, or is it just purely aesthetic?

I'm sure it depends on the card and how it vents, etc. I just want it for aesthetics and if it hurts the cooling I'll take it off.

The 6 GB version of the card I own comes with a backplate. The 3 GB version I have does not so I'm hoping it helps too.

Those back plates do look very nice. I might get one when I upgrade my graphics card.

On another note, I just dodged a bullet when the Live Update for my MSI motherboard's BIOS failed, and I was forced to do a hard restart with the power button. Can't believe that I came so close to ruining my newly built PC :slap.

Finished Crysis 2 on my new rig...WOW, sweet graphics...I enjoyed it and took longer than it should have to finish because I walked around a lot just looking at the graphics. :rock

My BenQ 120 hz monitor is being delivered tomorrow...I'll start the new Bioshock when it arrives. Then it'll be Crysis 3. I don't think I'll be getting the next gen consoles for a long time. Between my backlog of games on my 360 and wanting to play all of them on PC. Good times.

Anyone looking for a cheap game... Hitman Absolution, which I haven't played but got decent reviews, is on sale on Steam for $10 this weekend.

And to follow that, antichamber is £8ish and I also picked up limbo for under £3. You have to be fast though. I think the sale ends pretty soon. Absolution is awesome btw. Got that the last time it was on sale.

Is there a big difference game play wise than the original?

I've played maybe 3 hours of it and stopped, I don't see why it was so popular, felt really generic and boring.
I should force myself to finish it though... also have the 2nd game as well.

I'm completely with you on that. I didn't see it as anything special either but every review gave it pretty much top marks. I might have to give it another go.

I'd say the combat is more refined in Infinite. The original Bioshock is still worth playing for the story and atmosphere. You will be missing out on one of the greats if you don't finish it. This is coming from someone who took a year hiatus from Bioshock right in the middle of the game. When I begrudgingly finished it, I was glad I did.

Bioshock is not rated highly because of the gameplay. Is it good and fluid? Absolutely, but the key thing in bioshock is to get sucked into th atmosphere and story. With out those two it would be just another fps.

Having just got back into PC gaming, I remember how utterly frustrating Windows SecurRom is. Crysis 1 and 2 are practically unplayable, even though I have the original disks, and installed with the legitimate license keys.

If anyone has sent me a friend request on Steam that I haven't accepted yet, please let me know what your Steam ID is. Don't want to invite random strangers to the SSF Steam group.
